Vintage Vogue

In March of 2012 before I decided to create this blog, I shared my love for Vogue magazine on my d-foreverserenity blog with the article I am super-imposing below. I have this "thing" for magazines. I won't say obsession...I love the glossy pages, the colors, and usually read them from cover to cover....! I had so many magazines piled up, I had to get rid of them...and yes, regretted it the minute I did! Anyway, I'm so glad there are online choices now!!!! Takes up less place in my bedroom!lol! I have saved some of my favorite issues, and shared some style inspiration and observation below. These were my  favorite looks from a  Vogue  magazine issue from August 2006 , six years ago in the past, I know, but I have tons of mags and I love  flipping  through the pages!  These  looks are so fresh today !!  Vogue  featured the color combination of  "The  Red  is the new Black" - red being the new black at the time! One to Watch: #DOFW - Fashionista News

http://downtownorlandofashionweek.com/ I f you remember curvy divas, the last time I shared information about the upcoming fashion week in Downtown Orlando , I debuted my first article as a volunteer blogger for the event magazine.   If you missed it, go here . Since then, I've written more articles, and along with the other bloggers involved, will have one article published weekly until the grand events, November 3-9, 2013! I am placing DOFW on my "One to Watch" list because it is not just about fashion, but also with some socially-minded collaborations involved by way of local Charity, Harbour House of Central Florida which helps domestic violence survivors and their children.   There will be fashion's night out events and of course, fashion shows, so if you are in the Orlando area, be sure to join in and attend any or all of these events.   Here's a link to my two latest articles from last week's issue:   http://downtownorlandofashio

The Perfect Transition Dress from Summer to Fall

As the weather continues to do its dance, one day it's piping hot, the next you get whipped by a very cool breeze reminding you that summer is over!  Although it doesn't get as cold here, we do have our colder moments, and wearing clothing that can transition from a very hot day to a cooler morning or evening , and vice versa is essential! I saw this gorgeous dress at anthropologie.com and fell in love with it immediately curvy divas !   The price is under $100, we can work with that!  The look, the cut, I can even work with the length.  It seems to be very comfortable while remaining stylish.   You can layer it on top with a jacket, or sleeveless vest; or wear a turtle neck or shirt underneath.  Other layering options? Well, a pair of tights with boots, leggings with booties, or dress it up with heels and funky jewelry! Swing Stripe Day Dress from Anthropologie SHOP The only thing I am not loving about this dress?  They don't have an XL or any size larger!   So

Curvy Women's Fashion Going Mainstream

So far this year plus size fashion has gone more mainstream with the appearances of fashion for larger sizes showing at, and during regular-sized fashion shows.   New York, London, Italy had plus size fashions walking down the runway , and this very weekend, LA will also feature Haute Fashion for larger sizes .  This might not seem like a big deal to many, but for us curvy divas, it means we are making a mark on the industry by showing designers how important we are!  No longer are we accepting nondescript, unattractive styles.   We love ourselves, and we want to look just as good as everyone else!.  It is because of this empowerment and our buying power , that designers are taking notice. I recently read on The Curvy Fashionista , that plus size fashion made its first appearance at the Mercedes Benz Fashion show at NYFW ! Cabiria, a plus size fashion line funded by way of Kickstarter was the first brand to have this honor.    Photos by way of thecurvyfashionista  showcased E

That Elusive Tiny Waistline Vs The Fat Belly

As women in today's society, we have to deal with the constant barrage of advertisements, television programs, designers, everyone and anyone, who constantly compare our bodies and have an opinion of what or who we should look like!  Add being a curvy woman to that equation and what we get is often that we do not measure up to the "American ideal" of what beautiful is, just because of our size! Back in the day when corsets were ever so popular , the women who used to wear them (and some still do) were often seen as very beautiful because of their tiny waistline!  Today, looking at a photograph such as the one below , the woman in that picture seem almost skeletal , and dare I say, "in-human"?  How is it possible for women to want to have such a tiny waist?  While having too much fat around the middle is unhealthy for anyone, male or female, being that naturally small for any woman is practically impossible! 30 Coats: One for every day of the cold season

As Winter comes around the corner for some, and is already here for others, what is the best thing (after my favorite, boots) that some fashionistas look forward to? Well curvy divas , have you thought about it yet?  Coat season of course!  I'm sure by now you know that there is a coat for every type of cold-weather day! On Purewow.com they featured 30 different coats you can wear , think of it as a daily guide for at least one month of coat-wearing during the cold season!  They have defined for each type of cold-weather day a coat or jacket you can wear! When it's Crisp outside, a bit cooler than the hot weather we are still feeling here in Orlando, then it's time to take out your blazer ! Mossimo's brown leather fur collar jacket When it gets blustery outside, a lot colder than just a chill in the air, hello Bomber jackets !   I agree that this style is the "it" jacket, because of its edgy style ! http://www.oldnavy.com/products/outerwear-
