Me 'n My 'Fro ~ How I care my natural hair

Another protective style There are just certain times when you have to "stay low"   curvy divas   (to coin a phrase) in order to take care of (or protect) something. Most times that something might be an individual; or your health; or even a body part (for the athletically inclined); or anything else of value to you personally! In fact dear readers,  for some women, their hair will be listed among their valuables. Our hair is what we consider a part of our beauty so why not?!   This is why once in a while, or as often as I do make the time to, I will do what some black women do with their hair,  put it in a twist.   This is when you take a section of your hair, separate it into two strands, and wrap it together (like a braid).   Twisting my hair gives it a break from always combing or brushing it; and my hair is also not left out to the elements, sun, wind, and other weather-related happenings that may cause damage to my ha...

Me 'n My 'Fro: Length Check - My hair is growing

I blew out my hair and gave it a few presses with the flat iron recently curvy divas , just lightly, not too intensely straight and you know what I noticed?   My hair has grown! Yes it has.  It is now below my neck, resting on my back, just so!  Here are a few selfie pics: One of my throw-back photos of my hair in transition, and not yet red . As my hair grew, the curls become more defined - in a dark red/auburn color My hair after a blow-out a few weeks ago My 'Fro after a blow-out and some straightening a few days ago (pinned into a pony tail style)   It is good to see my hair growing. I am not planning to get a hair cut just yet. I want to see how long it will grow. I will get a trim though....and I mean my ends trimmed, not a cut as these hair stylist like to do, so I may end up doing it myself!   A salon visit is planned for this year though, it's on my style resolution list after all! How is your hair health curvy divas ? ...

Me 'n My 'Fro: The Many Ways I Wear My Hair

By now you already know what I wear depends on my mood curvy divas , and in some circumstances where I am going, and what I will be doing.  This goes without saying that my hair is no different.   My hair style depends on what I wear, where I'm going, and for the most part, do I have time to fix it into any desired styles! Yes, the demanding life of any mom can be very hectic. Inspite of all that I have to do, and factoring in the "age factor", my one guilty pleasure to myself is to always look the best I can at all times.  Mind you, there have been some "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" moments.  But those are few and far between. I love my hair and having fun with styling is a part of my routine. Below are the many looks I've worn, courtesy of Google+ Awesome Photos, here four hair-selfies of me.  Have you ever tried Google+ Awesome photos? You should.  If you're on Google+ add me and I will add you!...

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...
