Curvy Looks: Fierce Fashion Friday

So, you know how it goes sometimes curvy divas, you're stylin' and sometimes some people just don't get it?  You know, those times when you feel a groove and you just wear whatever you want to because you're feeling it and you're fierce?   Having fun with these fun glasses that belong to my daughter Amanda!lol! You may be feeling it, but some people don't.   What do you do?  Do you stop being yourself and conform to what society deems as conservative or more appropriate?  Or do you march to the beat of your own drum and just be your curvy, fabulous self?  Well, I do hope you be your authentic self. We all have those style moments when what we wear don't really....work.  But wear it anyway with the confidence of who we are.  These are the moments when you discover what works for you and what doesn't. And to that I say, YES!!!!   A recent look on a cool day here in Orlando. I wanted to be warm but stylish, in a fun, print leggings. And you kn

My very own High Pony Topknot

I decided to recreate that topknot myself.  Since this week it's a #Nocurlsweek for me because I did a light blowout and lightly straightened my hair with flat iron.  I wanted to try that look again.  No mind you my hair isn't as long as JLO's hair, but I was pretty surprised and pleased at the outcome! First, after moisturizing, I flatironed the ends of my hair Pulled into a high ponytail at the top center The look, very loose in photos below, I used bobby pins to pin for a fuller look   Wallah, The High Ponytail Topknot look recreated! What do you think curvy divas?  Did I do a good job?  Let me know in comments below.

High Pony Top Knot - Loving Jennifer Lopez'

I just a saw a photo of Jennifer Lopez' high ponytail top knot and I'm loving it!  Have you ever worn a top knot?  I do wear one often even when I'm all natural curls. It's the easiest way for me to tame my curls when I'm at home. I've even worn high pony top knot running errands.  It's never a perfect one though, in fact, the looser and less perfect my top knot is, the better.  I read Petra Gugliemetti's article on Glamour.com on how Jennifer Lopez' stylist does hers and think I may try it.   Of course Jennifer has much longer hair and it's also straight, so of course she will have much more hair in that look.   Do you know what her stylist does to perfect this look? He uses a curling iron!! What a smart idea to tame fly-a-ways and make the ends even neater. Follow the article link to get specific instructions on how to perfect this look! Lips for Fall that takes you into ANY Season

I recently decided to visit Sephora at my local mall.  There is dedicated store inside of the J.C. Penny's (JCP) store there.  I love their makeup and I love my JCP so I was thrilled to be there!  I looked around at what they had to offer and the smorgasboard of colors had me in makeup heaven! The staff there were so helpful. They knew when to zone in on their customers, and when to leave them alone which I appreciated very much.  Then when I had questions, one of the lovely associates answered and showed me their latest line of Lip tars. I had an inkling that it was lipgloss.  But I had no idea it was a stain - that's a cross between a lipstick and lipgloss, but gives even more coverage and stays on your lips forever! (hey if my definition is wrong, let me know) I opted for a red called Black Metallic because it was such a dark and beautiful red.  And also because that's the color I really wanted to have.  It was a gorgeous color and oh my, so bold!!!  It

Curvy Trends: Denim - What to Buy, Keep & Try in 2015

As we continue into 2015  curvy divas, the fashion trends continue to have us scrambling watching for what's next, and what we will actually be trying and adding to our closets.  I'm going to be honest with you, denim was never a popular clothing choice for me when I could finally make my own fashion choices as a young woman. Unlike my friends, being on the other end of the curvy spectrum meant being the center of attention, not what I appreciated back in the day. As a grown up, when it comes to denim, I'm loving it a lot more and I've shown you how to cuff them, tell you what you might wear with them, and now I'm doing you one even better.  As I continue to follow the fashion trends, looking at what's in, new and continue to be popular, using Glamour Magazine's Leah Melby's article as inspiration for the latest on the denim trend. Jeans to buy: Vintage; ripped and torn . Why? Because they're in again.  I'm actually seeing more ripped jea

Style Resolutions 2015: Want - Jumpsuit

I have yet to set my fashion goals for the New Year curvy divas.  I hope to share them with you in upcoming articles.  I thought this would be a clever way of doing it!  I like jumpsuits. In fact, the last time I wore one, I was 18.  Eighteen!!!!  It was a grey cotton silk jumpsuit and very sophisticated, which was how I felt whenever I wore it!  My jumpsuit was also an eye-catcher because I received a lot of attention when I wore it.  But that was years ago.  Fast Forward to 2014. I have been looking at the various styles of jumpsuits off and online since they became a hit again.   The fashion has carried over into 2015 and as a curvy woman, the jumpsuit I buy will have to fit and look great.  I found some great looking jumpsuits online.  I think Jennifer Hudson is stunning in her strapless jumpsuit.  The lariet long necklace is perfect too! Kim Kardashian is in a plunging neckline, full-cut jumpsuit.  I like the style, however the ill-fitting look of the length and neckl

Curvy Looks at the 2015 Golden Globes

You and I both know how difficult it is to decide what to wear when you have an event to attend curvy divas.  We must consider the type of event and wear clothing that is appropriate.  Our goal is always style first, then comfort, especially depending on the weather conditions. Do you think it is the same for actresses and celebrities too? Although they do have stylists and designers to doth on them, I'm sure they worry about what they are going to wear, and how they will look. Add to that, what we, the public, and especially those fashion critics will say about their style choices. Tonight is one of the most glamorous moments for Hollywood film & television stars, The Golden Globe Awards. I had to check out the curvy looks on the Red Carpet. Melissa McCarthy's style is a "DIY" (do-it-yourself) style. Do you think it is from her upcoming curvy fashion line?  She styled her gown the way she wanted it to look, and you know what.....? Curvy Collaborations: Lilly Pullitzer at Target

Have you heard the news curvy divas?  Lilly Pullitzer the fabulous icon of all things print and pattern beautiful will be the next designer capsule collaboration at Target. At the end of the summer last year, while shopping at my local Target and not "feeling" the style-looks that greeted me, I inquired about the next collaboration and was told there would be none for a while.  Guess what; it is happening soon, sometime this spring, on April 19, 2015. There are two things to note though, the first is those ladies who are oh so major spenders of the brand is not liking the Target collaboration.  They believe their brand is taking a step down from their high-end market to put themselves out there to the masses at large.  Um, I'm going to leave that alone as my comment may not be that nice. Secondly, while the collaboration will have plus size,  you won't be able to go on a shopping spree with your girlfriends in the store, only online.  Say what now?  Yep, y
