Me 'n My 'Fro ~ How I care my natural hair

Another protective style There are just certain times when you have to "stay low"   curvy divas   (to coin a phrase) in order to take care of (or protect) something. Most times that something might be an individual; or your health; or even a body part (for the athletically inclined); or anything else of value to you personally! In fact dear readers,  for some women, their hair will be listed among their valuables. Our hair is what we consider a part of our beauty so why not?!   This is why once in a while, or as often as I do make the time to, I will do what some black women do with their hair,  put it in a twist.   This is when you take a section of your hair, separate it into two strands, and wrap it together (like a braid).   Twisting my hair gives it a break from always combing or brushing it; and my hair is also not left out to the elements, sun, wind, and other weather-related happenings that may cause damage to my ha...

That Elusive Tiny Waistline Vs The Fat Belly

As women in today's society, we have to deal with the constant barrage of advertisements, television programs, designers, everyone and anyone, who constantly compare our bodies and have an opinion of what or who we should look like!  Add being a curvy woman to that equation and what we get is often that we do not measure up to the "American ideal" of what beautiful is, just because of our size! Back in the day when corsets were ever so popular , the women who used to wear them (and some still do) were often seen as very beautiful because of their tiny waistline!  Today, looking at a photograph such as the one below , the woman in that picture seem almost skeletal , and dare I say, "in-human"?  How is it possible for women to want to have such a tiny waist?  While having too much fat around the middle is unhealthy for anyone, male or female, being that naturally small for any woman is practically impossible! Curvy or Model-thin..what's your fantasy?

We know that in our Society today, the woman who is model-thin, a size 0 is the ideal for designers , and also for some men.  They don't want women who look even remotely like they have eaten, or that they do eat!   How in the heck did they come by this standard anyway? How did designers create this as the normal?  Because these designers used those mannequins! The mannequins being without any particular shapes at those times, (years ago) seem to make their clothing fit better.  This form appealed to the aesthetics of the ones designing their clothing.  That is why they have made this the normal requirement for women, to be that thin, unrealistically so!  These ideals, and Society's embracing of them, are what have caused anorexia and bulimia in young girls and women! Plus Model Magazine featured an article in January 2012 about our bodies and what's wrong with  it? (NOTHING!) Then we have the other end of the spectrum curvy div...

Edgy Fashionista!

You know what I'm tired of curvy divas ?  I'm tired of Society telling me what I can and cannot wear . I'm sick of seeing models who should be plus sized and they're not, modeling clothes that is supposed to fit a curvy woman! How am I going to tell how that clothing really looks on my curvy behind if the model who is showing it has none?   I'm also tired of not finding really stylish clothing in curvy diva sizes!!!  That's the three I'll list for now and I'll stop right there! I like to dress with not just style but with a bit of a "pop" thrown in too.  That means I love to accessorize , and they don't usually match.   I love to color coordinate but not in a "matchy-matchy" type of way.  I love to dress up , most of the times.  As someone commented to me recently, "I guess you dress according to your moods". Yes I do and there's nothing wrong with that! I was looking around on the Intraweb at the different...
