Show Me Your Closet

As you know from my last article , I went shopping for swimsuit with my teen Mandi and ended up doing the same for myself. After all, I was in need of a new bathing suit. My last purchase for one was from Target eight years ago! And also during that time, I was the lucky recipient of two new suits from my BSFFL (Best Sister Friend For Life) who visited from Europe! So Those have lasted quite a long time!

It has been a while since I bought a new bathing suit.  I don't like to do it.  You  know why?  Because much like shopping for Jeans, in fact, shopping for anything to fit my curves can be challenging! I was in the store because I went swimsuit shopping for my teen daughter.  For her a one-piece will not do.  It must be a two piece!  I feel her and totally understand!  Youth, oh youth - I too had a two-piece when I was 18 and I did get a lot of attention in it!       

How many swim suits do you own curvy divas?  One, two...five?!  Or perhaps you only own one because it's only hot in your neck of the woods, for two or three months out of the year?  Well, whatever it is, don't you think it's time you bought new swim suits? Personally speaking, the last time I purchased a new bathing suit was five years ago!!!! Eeek!!!!  I haven't bought anything else because I've been waiting to lose the weight and get more toned....! ~sigh~ Let's table my fitness quest for now and focus on looking at new swim suits - Yeeeeaaahh!  Bettina Prophete  featured swim suits that will be perfect for our curvy bodies in a photo montage entitled, "In The Swim"! in Essence Magazine online . I couldn't wait to share this with you curvy divas !  Remember the forever staple in the regular-sized closet, the Bikini. Then the Tankini was created and has fast become a favorite for some of us.   Now there's a new type of bathsuit on the scene, hello Fatkini!  You might have already heard about the Fatkini?   It is a 2-piece swimsuit, a bikini for curvy girls!  Created from the collaboration between Gabi Gregg, Plus-size blogger and Swimsuits For All, a swimsuit retailer!   It has become so popular, they've sold out!!! Wow!   It looks like a fun suit to wear, and the design is definitely very much geared to hit our assets in the right places!  Would you wear it?  I think I just might! I'm not sure I'm liking the name "Fatkini", are you?   However, owning our bodies and what we love about ourselves is always a good thing, so the name stands! (as if!)
