Lacquered: My Newest Nail Color

My Newest obsession .....let me re-phrase that, I 'v e added a new color to my nail polish wardrobe . At the rate that my tween uses my nail polishes, a new color doesn't last very long for me. If you have been reading my Lacquered articles,  you know that I wear a different nail polish color weekly, and I love adding new colors.   What better way to update your looks, and have a little "me time"! Do you agree with this line of thinking curvy divas? This color is a Grey - Brown and has sparkles, not overly sparkled , which means you can wear it to work. It's by Wet'n Wild. What do you think? Would you wear this color?   What is your newest nail polish color choice?

Me 'n My 'Fro

It has been approximately three  or four years since I have not relaxed my hair.   Relaxed as you  may know curvy divas, means using a chemical hair cream to straighten my hair .   It has been a long journey to where I am now with my hair being healthy, strong and beautiful. I took the plunge last summer and made my hair tbe color it is today and I have not regretted it! In the coming weeks, on a Wednesday, I will feature the various hair-looks I have had in the last four years , oh boy, has it been many!! A gentleman in my office often compliments my hair and marvels at the variety of looks my hair can do!lol!  I have to say I agree with him. I have twisted, blown out, curled, and worn up-do's. I sometimes wear hair accessories too, why not have fun with my 'Fro? !   :-)   .

What I Wear in a Day: My Pinspiration Outfit

I enjoy and LOVE pinning on my Pinterest Boards. It has become one of the ways I relax. I admire the photos of the people or products that I pin, and sometimes I want to have it; a certain product, or a certain look, or the clothing from a style of dressing. This is not the first time I have worn this look.   The pinspiration outfit style is one of my go-to's easily-put-together look that I have worn several variations of, at one point or another. In my look, I paired my pullover cotton sweater with a men's striped shirt. The shirt used to be my dad's. T he black trousers are by Apt 9, Kohl's , and sweater from Torrid . This is the look I pinned on my "My Style" pinterest board: black & white. - http://pinterest.com/pin/230176230929109268/ This is MY LOOK , paired with black suede Michael Kors booties, arm candy bracelets FromJessicaV, and beaded headband for my curly 'Fro.

The Coats Trend: Tacky & Loving it

I saw this coat by the designer Chloe` on Vogue.com earlier and immediately loved it!  The look is not exactly conservative, nor is it a style most women would wear.  I do love the "wild factor" of the styling because it seems to be too large, and has too much going on ! However, for me this unconventionally styled coat is a look I would definitely wear. Just imagine how warm it will be during these oh so cold wintry months curvy divas. While it may not be that cold here where I am, it does get to 36 degrees sometimes!  Plus who knows when my next trip up North will be. It's definitely on my "If only I could" want list! I also have a Pinterest board...I know, what's with me and coats? Well, I have always loved them, so why not feature them more!  http://www.pinterest.com/foreverserenity/coats-and-m

Selfie: The Art of Taking Selfshots

I often have to take my own photographs when I want to post pictures of myself on my blogs as I do on my "My Looks" page. I do get help sometimes from my hubby, or my youngest, Amanda.  Lately, she has become my little videographer for a future project I'm working on.  But for the most part when I want a photograph of myself, it's a "selfie" shot 95% of the time. I'm happy when the pictures come out great and I look amazing.   Sometimes however, they are not so great, especially when it's a headless shot, or one that I don't particularly like.  I do try to take a good picture after all, we all can't be Hallie Berry.   I read an article on iVillage.com, entitled "How to take better pictures, and be More Photogenic" that I wanted to share with you curvy divas. As Madonna said in one of her songs, "Strike a pose" - according to the article, this is what you should be doing, you should practice your pose .  Do  practi

Accessorize Me: Baubles at the Golden Globes

The accessories worn by the actresses on the red carpet deserves their own article! Yes, they were that fantastic.  Booth Moore, Fashion Editor of the L.A. Times did a great write up on those accessories too at touch.latimes.com . I mentioned Sofia Vergara's Turquoise Collar in yesterday's article . It deserves another mention, at the top of this writing, and is by far my favorite piece of the evening. Curvy Divas at the Golden Globes & Other Favorite Fashion Moments

The Golden Globes Awards were on Sunday night curvy divas , and being one of my favorite award shows, hosted by two of my favorite comediennes, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler, I had to watch!   Loving fashion as much as I do, I tuned in to see what the actresses were wearing on the red carpet.   They turned out  in  their finest gowns and jewelry .  It was great to see bright colors as worn by Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung (pictured below) , Amy Adams (pictured below) in Valentino and Julie Bowen  in Carolina Herrera , wore color-blocked gowns. The fashion commentators  hated it, but who cares?!  She loved it and rocked her style with confidence.

Trend alert: White bags

You're not thinking about this right now curvy divas because you're probably frozen-in somewhere with no where to go. But think about this, you in your best spring or summer outfit, and the best looking white handbag out there that will make you strut, not walk! Can you visualize that image yet?   Hmmm, I can. And if you can't, lets get you out of the doldrums and forget about the icicles forming around you.  Here are some tips I wanted to share on how you should be wearing your white handbags in the seasons to come. When wearing your white bag the best fabric to wear are knits, nylons, and satin.  Do you know why?   The dye from other types of material can rub off on your bag , and there's nothing like spoiling your best pocketbook* and not being able to clean that navy ink off. It's also better to wear any other color shoes but white when you wear a white handbag. I've seen a few people do this. While there's nothing wrong, other than perh

My 8 Style Resolutions for 2014

Image from simplybe.co.uk/blog / - Their LFW highlights! (LOVE) Happy New Year curvy divas!  It's 2014 and many people are making resolutions.   Are you making any?  If so, what are they?   I do have several plans in mind, some of them fashion-related.  Before I share, I have a question for you.   Have you thought about making any changes to your looks, or your style in general?  I won't make anymore drastic changes as I did with my hair color last year (which wasn't even on my radar!). I do have some "Style Resolutions" for 2014. Here's my list: 1) There are three items of clothing in my closet, brand new that I have yet to wear. [I bought two of them four years ago, and one last summer], while I was on my fitness quest (which I still am on by the way) and although I did finally fit into two of them, I never wore them anywhere.   My goal this year is to wear at least one of those items this year. 2) I love to shop. While there are times wh
