Fierce Fashion Friday: Curvilious at the 2015 Emmy's

Did you catch the Emmy's this year?  That is one of television's moments where the actors and actresses are recognized for the fabulous work they do on the small screen aka television. As what usually occurs, the stars walk the Red Carpet where they are interviewed by other television news and fashion personalities. Actress Viola Davis with her Emmy!! ( photo credit  Jordan Strauss/InvisionAP) ( an honorable mention because it is so well-deserved ) Some of the fashions that made me think "Fierce" or made me go "Wow" as they went down the Red Carpet were so awesome it brought me to a fierce fashion moment!   Because it is TGIF, yeah, are you singing "Thank God Its Friday" yet?  Here on the blog we are; let's take a look at two fabulous stars who wore their fashion fiercely and didn't care:

Hair Trends: The Badass Blowout

There are times when you need to give yourself a refresher, a different look without making drastic changes. Hmmm, what could I do to give myself this pick me up? Sometimes we all need this. It can be a change in how we think , giving us a new outlook. It can be the simplest thing we do for our appearance.

Love it or Leave it: The Kimono

I have seen so many bloggers write about kimonos lately, it's fast becoming one of the favorite fashion trends.   I have Seen so many types of kimonos and so far I am loving this trend. I do love a great cover up and find having those types of clothing in my closet a good thing. Much like a jacket  or cardigan, I doubt you can go wrong.

What's the Faux Fix for this Celebrity's Fashion Faux Pax?

Remember when Actress Lena Denham wore this Giambattista Valli gown to the Emmys?   She ended up on the "Worse dress" list of most of the fashion critiques and reviewers.  While they didn't like her outfit, I really loved it.   I loved it because she chose to wear a style that wasn't the norm aka normal.  She chose to wear something that appealed to her sense of adventure.  She chose to be different. You know how that is curvy diva.  I'm sure that at least once in your fashion repertoire you went by your instincts and wore something that you absolutely loved, regardless of how it may look to others?  I know I have.  So I do understand her fashion point of view.  What she may have not done however, is wore it with the confidence an outfit like this requires.   By looking at the photograph below, I get the feeling she wasn't too happy wearing what she had on.  But that's my assumpti...

I love vintage, and I love clothing from years gone by.   Some of my favorite years have been those 80's and 90's looks as well.   Tell me curvy divas, what is the one style-look aka fashion trend from years ago that you still wear today?   Would you give it up?    Heels?  Is that the look...? Click the link below to see what I refuse to stop doing today!            The 90's Trend I'll Never Give Up! ~ Fabulously Curvy So, tell me, which fashion trend do you love too much and  will never give it up?

Fashion's New Darling - Amal Alamuddin aka Mrs. Geoge Clooney

She is not your traditional curvy diva, but she does have curves, and she certainly has a sense of style that I do admire.   Especially because she carries herself with such confidence!  I kept hearing about the woman George Clooney dated, got engaged to, and now married this past weekend. I've seen her briefly not paying too much attention. But this past weekend, and because their wedding was so romantic & gave George's fan a "front seat" to some of the happenings of their special weekend; she definitely captured my gaze with her gorgeous sense of style!   Amal was so chic in Stella McCartney.  This is why celebrities love Stella's designs! This stylish pants suit has feminine style just right; and Amal wore it with style & flair; and oh that hat! Amal in a Stella McCartney White w/Black Pants suit The Giambattista Balli Couture dress below, is a mini in front and longer in the back.  This style is usually called the hi-lo, but I heard Amal...

How to Cuff Your Jeans

Would you believe curvy divas that I used to deliberately go out and buy denim with cuffs because they used to be oh so fashionable several fashion years ago.  I know, who does that? Well, I did.  It was cute and I didn't have to worry about rolling the pant legs myself because they were already cuffed for me, so why not?! I was persuing Madewell.com recently and saw an "How to" on how to get the perfectly rolled cuffs when you wear your denim. They shared this  after they noticed quite a few women wearing cuffed jeans.  Which means they were in again.  Were they really out of style though?  Or was it just that not too many of us were wearing our jeans that way?  I'm posting the link below. There is a trick to getting that perfectly rolled cuff.   I've done one even better, I've posted a video on my Facebook page on how to get the perfect cuffed denim!  The entire episode was self-shot and unscripted.  Do let me know what yo...

Curvy Looks: The Faux Fix for Celebs Fashion Faux Pas

Some time ago I shared an article I wrote about celebrities who wore the wrong style-look and it got me thinking that I didn't really give any solutions to what they wore, not fully!  It's like me seeing you leave the ladies restroom w/toilet paper trailing on your shoes, or yikes...hanging out of your underwear!!!! What would the fix be?   The faux fix ......for these  "oh no she didn't" fashion moments, aka, a fashion "faux pas".   What did Mindy Kaling do wrong here? Her ensemble shouts "busy", the wrong color combination. I've worn prints that mixed before, the trick is having colors that go well together!   The faux fix?     Her look would have worked if the prints were in the same color family. Or even had she paired either the top or skirt with a solid color. The accessories are also not right, they are great for work though. Mindy Kalin Separately, the clothing worn by Star Jones (photo below) would be appropriate, but ...

What I Wear in a Day: The Sexiest Top Ever

Recently I did a "Found" article write up about a gorgeous, s exy top that I recently acquired and asked for suggestions on how to wear it .  Googler (totally made that up!)  +Nami's Fashion Light   gave me some great ideas!   Nami's Fashion Light 6 days ago + 1 0 1   1 Reply   Hi Donna! I just saw  your post on how to wear this top that you found and I couldn't help not think about how you could wear it. For a top like this that is more loose and draped, you could wear something more form fitting, like a nice pair of leather/pleather black leggings with some pumps OR a pair of high waist jeans but tuck in the scrunch band inside for more emphasis on elongating your legs and also more focus on the draping of the top with some sandal heels or pumps OR, a pair of jogger pants with the same matching color for a monochromatic look or bold printed jogger pants for a play on solids and prints with pumps or sandal heels. ...

The Leather Trend: You Need These in Your Closet

I'm fascinated by leather, are you curvy divas?   It is the smell, look and feel that makes it such a fascinating clothing choice.   The versatility of leather is boundless! You can wear any leather item in your closet with anything , which girl (or guy) doesn't like that?!   I was perusing elle.com recently and found an article about what else....LEATHER! I had to share it with you.   I saw these shoes and immediately thought "Oh my shoegasm"! These heels are to die for.  The look, the style...we are shoe lovers after all. Giuseppe Zannotti SandalsPhoto by shoescribe.com as seen on elle.com I love the look of this leather bracelet. The hook design means it won't be hard to put on or take off all by myself.  Leather stretches so I can fit it on my wrist. It has a kind of "rocker-chic" look that I like. What I Wear in a Day: The Vlog Series - Day 5

We've made it to Friday! Yeah curvy divas, aren't you happy it's the end of the work week? At least for most of us. If you have to work on the weekend, I'm sorry, I feel your pain, having been in that role before.   But for now, at least sit back and tune in to the last in my vlog series about my work style. I had to "hide" in the bathroom to record this video so do pardon the tightness of the space and the background noises! Sometimes the family gets noisy.  Anyway, on Casual Fridays at work it's always a "dress down" day, Friday style is jeans, for most of us, but today I chose to wear a skirt.  You can dress anyway you want. My outfit today: Turquoise sweat shirt from Walmart Scarf by Apt. 9 from Kohl's Black three-tiered prairie skirt  by Old Navy Black-ribbed tank top from Old Navy Black suede leather ankle boots by JCP (JC Penney's) Striped socks in black/white Jewelry: Silver hoop earrings; bracelets by Amanda (lol) ...

Lacquered: New Year's Nail Looks

Whohooooo it's the eve to New Year's Eve curvy divas, are you ready to party?  Do you know where you will be? Wherever it is, you know your nails has got to be done! You can fit your nails in right before your hair salon visit.  Even better, you can do a self manicure. The different looks in nail polish has been trendy this year and i'm sure won't stop in 2014.  You have so many choices, from matte to glitter, and all the colors in between.  I say let's make our nails festive for our night out and go with glitter or even a pretty bright color!  For the holidays I had my nails in a bright Holiday Red. I wanted a different look for New Year's Eve and I did my nails (a self manicure)  and got inventive with my nail polish by using a soft - glittered pink and added red at the tips . I actually like it.  Bring your inner - creativity out and have fun with your nail looks !

Accessorize of the Day - Forever 21 Earrings

I love these earrings that I bought from Forever 21!  They are turquoise/green color with pewter gold trim that looks like silver!  I wear them with most colors in my wardrobe (why not?!) and love pairing them with different shades of green! For this look curvy divas , my accessories were more simple. Gold-look bangle bracelets were the added touch! [note Amanda wanted in on the photo to show-off her multi-colored nails and sparkly bracelets! Alas, they don't have them anymore so no link!

Plus Size Skinny Jeans - The Look

I may have already shared with you that I wasn't a fan of skinny jeans , at least for me personally, in the beginning curvy divas .  However, since I finally gave in and bought one that was on sale at Kohl's, where else?! I love the pair I bought!    I forgot the price I purchased them on sale, however, I found some great looking skinny jeans for plus size online at kohls.com for you below! Levi's 512 Perfectly Slimming Jeans for Women I was happy to find Junior's plus skinny jeans for young girls!  The color is nice too!  Junior's Plus -  SO Iridescent Color Skinny @ Kohls.com My daughter Amanda is not plus size, however she found a pair in her size, a lighter shade of blue!     All in all, so far, I'm loving my first pair of skinny's! As for my Amanda, that's all she wears these days, "because they're so comfortable mom", she loves to tell me!lol!  I love the bright colors which is perfe...

Layering

It is cold in Orlando today, COLD!!!! I've heard comments from some people that they don't remember it ever being this cold! Yep, welcome to Florida, one minute you're freezing your buns off; and in another minute, you might just be sunning those buns!   One thing I like to do curvy divas, is wear layers.  I think I've gotten it down to an art-form too.  You can do it too! Just grab any shirt, or blouse, and wear under a long-sleeved sweater.   I chose a pink man-style (but made for women) shirt which I had purchased at Macy's from the Ralph Lauren collection . My APT. 9 Infinity Scarf from Kohl's The Lauren shirt was on sale when I bought it, for half off + more, what a deal!  It is in one of my favorite colors, pink!  Paired with the striped sweater from Kohl's men's department, accessories were girly beaded hoop earrings, pearls and beaded bracelets!   And yes, my usual style of a man-size watch!  Do...
