What does a Curvy Girl Need? Designer Fashion or Mainstream Designer?

I hear the cries about us curvy women not putting our money where the designer fashions are when they do deem to create for our size. Seriously? Like what size?  A size 10, 12, 14, 16 - L,XL?   Where are the sizes 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and even higher? Because there are full-figured women out there who needs to look good too. And don't get me started on those who think a designer shouldn't create for me because I can't afford it. You're probably right on that front. I can't afford to drop $1000 on a shirt like it's hot potato. Nope, never have and never will!  I'm sure many women out there won't do that either because some of us just don't have that type of disposable income. However, we do want to look good, we do love to shop, (maybe not everyday) and we do love a good sale, what's wrong with that? Hmmmm...seems a lot to think about my curvy divas.  I'll share more in upcoming articles. To kick this off though there's a question I ...

Fashion Industry and The Plus Size Woman

There are times when I'm happy about the progress that seems to be happening when it comes to fashion for the larger sized woman , and there are times when I'm not so excited! I'm excited when I see the types of design and products that are offered to us curvy divas . Beautiful, well-made clothing, some of them by house designers, or by brand named designers; accessories to die for, and the men who love us!  There are now many different Medium, such as magazines and online fashion stores geared towards us, not to mention the many big and beautiful bloggers out there! I don't get excited however, when I keep seeing clothing that makes absolutely no sense, such as those that are just like shapeless sack cloths, or the designers and/or the industry itself that keeps putting us in the corner!  "No one puts baby in the corner!" Sometime it seems as if we're being thrown a bone to keep us happy and sated!  I was excited to read about an upcoming Plus Sized...

How can you not LOVE your Curves?!

I came across an article on 2010 London's Fashion Week on dailymail.co.uk about a couple stylists who quit working with an knitwear designer Mark Fast because he wanted to use fuller sized (or plus sized) models to showcase his design!   He had to scramble to get his show off and running and present his fashion on the runway, thank heavens he did! In the end, he did do as he wanted, using at least two curvier size 12-14 models to showcase his designs .  While I have nothing against women who are thinner, and leaner.   I love any woman of any size that looks beautiful and confident!   When I saw the photographs of the women who wore the designs, to me, the women who looked the best in his designs had more "meat on her bones", to coin a phrase! Here are the women he used to showcase his designs who are considered plus sized in the fashion industry: Compared to the models who are the "ideal" conventional fashion weight used by almost all design...

Full Figured Fashion Week

I've been looking curvy divas . Searching and reading and trying to find anything, since I wrote about Fashion's Night Out worldwide , and Fashion Week in New York in earlier blog articles, I promised to find out if there were any plus sized fashions featured there.  So far, I've found none.  That's a sad tale really.  I did found out however, that earlier this year, June 2012 to be exact, there was Full Figured Fashion Week !  I wonder why the two can't go together?  Would the thinner people be upset if full sized fashion were featured at that time as well? I think not!  It perhaps has a lot to do with the designers, and perhaps the retailers too, who knows?! FFFW.com gave awards to those who have played unforgettable roles in the industry!  The full figure fashion show had many sponsors, including Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart.  The plus size fashion magazine, Full Blossom Magazine , dedicated an entire issue to the occasion and events ...
