Having Effortless Style

There are times when I feel like dressing up, piling on lots of jewelry, makeup and really "killing it" with my fashion look.  And there are those times when I just want to be simply yet stylishly dressed.  No fuss, yet exuding effortless style. I find that as I get older I am geared towards making my style more effortless.  Oh still stylish, just not as over the top as I used to be.  I wonder if it is because of our mindset, how we begin to look at life, where we are, what we are doing and what our outlook is why we begin to think differently?  I like to think that it is just a part of me growing up!

Fierce Fashion Friday: Curvilious at the 2015 Emmy's

Did you catch the Emmy's this year?  That is one of television's moments where the actors and actresses are recognized for the fabulous work they do on the small screen aka television. As what usually occurs, the stars walk the Red Carpet where they are interviewed by other television news and fashion personalities. Actress Viola Davis with her Emmy!! ( photo credit  Jordan Strauss/InvisionAP) ( an honorable mention because it is so well-deserved ) Some of the fashions that made me think "Fierce" or made me go "Wow" as they went down the Red Carpet were so awesome it brought me to a fierce fashion moment!   Because it is TGIF, yeah, are you singing "Thank God Its Friday" yet?  Here on the blog we are; let's take a look at two fabulous stars who wore their fashion fiercely and didn't care:

I've Got the Rompers Fever!

The last pair you saw me in, rompers that is, were the Milly DesigNation ones.  I loved them.  I was window shopping, didn't get them.  My loss!  I admittedly said I wouldn't wear them out but at home, because for me, they were cute but too short. I do LOVE them! I found another pair that were just as cute. They buttoned down the front, had cap sleeves, and were two inches longer.  The black and white pattern were so stylish!  The cap sleeves had epaulets!

Love it or Leave it: The Kimono

I have seen so many bloggers write about kimonos lately, it's fast becoming one of the favorite fashion trends.   I have Seen so many types of kimonos and so far I am loving this trend. I do love a great cover up and find having those types of clothing in my closet a good thing. Much like a jacket  or cardigan, I doubt you can go wrong.

Hair Trends: Rainbow Colored Hair

I've got a new obsession. Yes, a new one, rainbow colored hair.  I am fascinated by the women who are bold enough to do this look. I did my own bold look two summers ago when I went a very daring red.   I am actually antsy and really want to try pink and blue and green...need I say more? LOL!  Because I have to keep my looks under wraps (at least for the next couple of months) so that I don't scare the very conservative people I work with.  I cannot be really "loud" with my hair.  In my heart I am a child of adventure and do not let others bother me but I must admit there are times when "they" will suppress my spirit. These days though I'm happy to say that I'm learning to live in the moments and I am again learning to let me be me. So yes, I will find a way to try new colors and I do like rainbow colors! How exciting. What I do like about rainbow colors are that there are some that are really LOUD , and others that make a statement without be...

Curvy Looks: Sheer Inspiration - Eureka I Styled It!

So remember when I restyled and refashioned my sheer 80's shirt into a new look with my Old Navy boyfriend jeans and the JLO tank top ? Little did I know that I was unto something old, being new again! Yes curvy divas, the really sheer look is here to stay with  a totally new vision of sheer inspiration.  I'm on Issuu are you?  I was doing what I love to do, peruse what I affectionately call Magrags and came across BlkonBlk a really awesome magazine published by Black Magazine with some really great images of which I was impressed and loving their style. Then I saw this look: I could visualize myself in this style and wondered if I could recreate it.  I had a high neck cowl sweater that  was similar and I could wear my bondage shoes.   Unfortunately, I didn't have any sheer skirts or dress.  Well, there goes that idea.  But perhaps I could still see what I could create using the shirts I have! I grabbed two of the three sh...

Curvy Looks: The Full-Body Project - Leonard Nimoy

The late Leonard Nimoy "championed full-figured" women.  He wanted women with full-figured bodies to not worry about what others, i.e., society thought of their looks and just be the beautiful human beings who God created them to be.  He wanted them to "...be able to stand ... and present themselves to the world" just as they are.  How beautiful is that?! I can't remember hearing about this book that the man who in my head will always and forever be Mr. Spock, "Live long and prosper" , (had to write that out loud ~smile~) published!  Did you know this curvy divas?  The book is entitled Full-figured Bodies , and from the photographs I have seen so far, the women he portrayed in the book are absolutely phenomenal and defies the stigma of society's depiction of beauty . Author, Natalie Angier , who wrote an introduction to the book said that Mr. Nimoy didn't like that most women felt bad about their own bodies .  ~sidenote: we do that don...

Curvy Looks: How to wear that 80's Sheer Shirt Now

Today’s fashion is filled with a lot of sheer and almost nude, aka barely there clothing isn’t it curvy divas?   Did you know that trend didn’t just began with Rihanna’s barely-there dress or even Rose McGowan’s chain dress .   Nope, sheer fashion has been a trend for as long as I can remember. But as many styles that become trends always do, one minute they are extremely popular, and the next they are not.   The sheer trend is more popular than ever today with each actress and entertainer trying to outdo each other in what they do not wear from one function to the next!   I’ve always enjoyed having sheer clothing items in my closet because I find them really attractive as optional layering.   One such item is a shirt I have had for a while now that has been sitting in my closet with nowhere to go, until now! To modernize my 1980's sheer shirt, I decided to wear it as a jacket over my new boyfriend jeans and...

You may be feeling it, but some people don't.   What do you do?  Do you stop being yourself and conform to what society deems as conservative or more appropriate?  Or do you march to the beat of your own drum and just be your curvy, fabulous self?  Well, I do hope you be your authentic self. We all have those style moments when what we wear don't really....work.  But wear it anyway with the confidence of who we are.  These are the moments when you discover what works for you and what doesn't.
