Society's Never-ending Debate - Who is Plus Sized?

The debate continues about women who are curvier, heavier, plus sized...whatever your favorite terminology is for women who are not Size 0-14, or in the fashion world, Sizes X0-4! In 2014 I wrote about Designers who were confused about what plus size is and who also didn't want to dress women who were larger than a size 0. Once again in 2016, this debate that constantly has us, full-figured, curvy women, being pitted against the woman who is a size zero or regular size is still an issue today because of the Fashion Models being used by Designers in their fashion shows, the looks of these women being deemed as Plus Size are just not plus size. These days most Designers are also refusing to dress actresses ( Melissa McCarthy , and most recently Leslie Jones ) who are not a size zero is such a thoughtless thing, this kind of insensitivity must end. Will the True Plus Size Please Stand Up: Australian Model Posts Untouched Bikini Photo

Will the true plus size please stand up?   I've written about this before and it continues to boggle my mind.   I like that women are becoming more comfortable with their bodies and who they are.   We are letting our hair grow out, we don't mind having belly fat (not all of us anyway), we don't mind having "muffin tops", we are OK if our thighs touch , need I go on?! The one thing that we can't seem to get comfortable with is the monster that fashion designers have created because of their "vision" in using sizes 0-2 as their muses. They continue to create their designs on mannequin-type sizes, even today (2014). The article linked below (and at the title) mentioned model Robin Lawley, once a regular size model, is now a plus size model.  In the photo/selfie posted in the article, she is in a swimsuit, showing off her curves.  I think that's very admirable of her because she looks quite normal, and is a beautiful woman.   The article co...

Vogue Italia - Plus Models on Cover

On Stylehog.com, I saw this June 2011 issue of Vogue Italia and read.... Three Plus-Size Models Land the Cover of  Vogue  Italia:  Italian  Vogue  featured three plus-size models, Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley, http://www.stylehog.com/news-vogue-italia-does-plus-size-cfdas-best-dressed/ I've often heard that curvy girls are very much adored in Italy.  Is this true?  If so I like that curvy divas! Italy, here I come one day!lol!   I always enjoy reading magazines, and enjoy seeing full-figured women on the cover!  Hurrah for regular size women, and an even bigger shout out with glee to see full-figured women on the cover of Vogue Italia! What do you think about this? Which other "mainstream" magazines (not geared towards plus size) have you seen featured plus size models on their cover?

What is True Plus Size?

You would think that by now, all of these retailers, designers and even so many of the fashion people "out there" would know what true plus size is.  It is NOT a size 8 or even a size 10.   It is definitely NOT a size 12, although many designers, retailers, and even some bloggers, declare a size 12 a plus size?  What?!  No way! A size 12 might be larger than a size 6,8, & 10, but a size 12 is regular size, read again, r-e-g-u-l-a-r s-i-z-e!!!! Please stop saying plus size begins at a size 12 because it does not.   Maternity clothing are for pregnant women, not women who happen to have a little fat around their tummy, or a bigger waistline!  Quit doing that, and you know who you are retailers! Aren't you just over these ridiculousness curvy divas?   I know I am!  Wouldn't you think that by now, these retailers would have their act together, but no, they don't.   According to a Motley Fool article penned by Leo Sun on fool.com, the ver...

What is True Plus Size?

I was reading Plus Model Magazine online at plus-model-mag.com and clicked on a link to one of their articles entitled:   "Plus size model Robyn Lawley is hot! hot! hot! in Australian Cosmopolitan Magazine" I was excited to see this plus-sized maven who was wowing the Australian market!  I clicked and saw a very pretty    beautiful woman featured in the article!  She's a very striking woman, and I can see the attraction!  But her size left me non-plussed!  I expected to see a larger sized woman staring back at me, but nope, this was one of the photographs of her! I'm not sure what to think?!  I'm happy for her, she's doing well in her field, she is as I said very attractive, but plus sized?  What?!!! Once again, not only are we getting bad names from stores who think our sizes are not worth the bother in carrying, but we're also getting gypped by the size of the women who are supposed to be larger than the regular s...
