Kohl's Fashion & Derek Lam

I love shopping at Kohl's. The fact that they carry clothing for every member of my family, the one-stop shopping is oh so convenient!   I always make a beeline for their sale rack because you can get the best bargains!  Another thing that I love about Kohl's curvy divas , not just their prices, but the fact that they carry plus sized fashion !  I was looking around online at kohls.com and saw one of my recent purchase, the sweater dress below: Apt. 9 Empire Cowl-neck Sweater Dress - $34.00 on Sale! Me wearing that dress! My favorite way to wear this dress, on its own; with a cardigan or jacket; or with pants!   Would you believe the neckline can be worn as a mock-hoodie?  Yes, it can!  So versatile! Something new to look forward to, Derek Lamb will be going the way of other designers such as Jennifer Lopez, Lauren Conrad and Vera Wang and showcasing his designs at Kohl's!   Derek's designs will be at Kohl's in 2013 .  Read more at the link

Japanese Couture

This has absolutely nothing to do with being a curvy diva ! At least, not in body size!  However, as a fashionably conscious curvy diva I do love great style!  Throw in a little dramatic effect and what's not to love?! What am I going on about you might be wondering? Well, I was doing one of my favorite things, perusing the Intraweb and came across Zimbio.com.  They featured Japan Couture 2012 Singapore. The fashion designs featured were elegant and dramatic. I could see these on anyone! Imagine the dress below in a shorter version - can't you imagine yourself rocking that design?  Yumi Katsura Design The color of the design below is so vibrant! While I would need a less fussy style for my body type, I would definitely wear this just as it is! Why not?! With each design worn, the models hair made its own fashion statement:                   Yumi Katsura Design Gorgeous Bridal Couture! Designs by Tamae Hirokawa:

Sustainable Fashion

Have you ever heard the word Sustainable ?  I'm sure you have by now curvy divas!  There are so many things going on in our own cities, and in other countries around the world regarding saving our Planet and leaving less of a "carbon footprint" because of our lifestyles and in what we do .  With so many people on our planet, our trash and way of life are catching up to us. You may have noticed Global Warming and other climate issues that have been in the forefront in the last decade! You do know that the items from our waste that are being recycled are used to make products that we do re-use, as well as buy as new for our homes, and to use in other aspects of our lives?   Did you also know that there has been a movement towards making Fashion sustainable?   Oh yes there is!   There are companies, Fashion Houses, and Designers, who actively create, design and promote Sustainability in Fashion!   They use their skills (or seek out those who do) and utilize resources so

What to Wear for Thanksgiving Dinner?

It's a dilemma for, perhaps, many women right now? The guys probably might worry about this too, but for now, we're focusing on us girls, right curvy divas ?! I'm not going to a big formal affair, just dinner at my daughter's house with her fiance and my grandson.  It will be a family affair, just us, and them ...and anyone else who might stop by!lol! I'm loving this cotton sweater and jeans or dressed pants idea .   A scarf is a perfect layer to this outfit!  It would mean I won't be too warm, or feel cold if the weather changes! This is an ad from shop.nordstrom.com from their Women's Plus line That's a good thing, when you don't have to get too dressed up for Thanksgiving Dinner. However, i t's a special day and for some of us, we might want to look nice , wouldn't you agree?!  My youngest has already picked out her outfit which she showed me last night, a pair of teal blue leggings with blue tulle skirt and a teal tee shirt!

What is True Plus Size?

I was reading Plus Model Magazine online at plus-model-mag.com and clicked on a link to one of their articles entitled:   "Plus size model Robyn Lawley is hot! hot! hot! in Australian Cosmopolitan Magazine" I was excited to see this plus-sized maven who was wowing the Australian market!  I clicked and saw a very pretty    beautiful woman featured in the article!  She's a very striking woman, and I can see the attraction!  But her size left me non-plussed!  I expected to see a larger sized woman staring back at me, but nope, this was one of the photographs of her! I'm not sure what to think?!  I'm happy for her, she's doing well in her field, she is as I said very attractive, but plus sized?  What?!!! Once again, not only are we getting bad names from stores who think our sizes are not worth the bother in carrying, but we're also getting gypped by the size of the women who are supposed to be larger than the regular sized model to be called plus

Zara Stores...American Women too fat?!

Zara Sizes for women I have seen these stores before, Zara, and their clothing look pretty nice. I don't recall going into one of them and perhaps it is a good thing!  Thursday on Good Morning America (GMA) it was reported that Zara stores won't expand further opening more stores here in the US because American Women waistlines are too big! Really?! The store's main clientele is smaller sized women.  They do well in Europe and Asia, but not so great here because they don't carry sizes for the curvy divas in the United States!  Proof in point, there were two fashion bloggers with the Journalist reporting, who were size 18-20 and could fit into an XL most times.   When they tried the clothing at Zara, they couldn't even fit an XL. The reporter who wasn't a larger woman by any means, just fit into the XL!  They do make their sizes too small! As noted by the model from the article I read below.  She's a size 4/6! So even a smaller sized woman or a regu

Work Style

One of the difficult things for some of us curvy divas , is to put together an outfit to wear to work .  It's easier when you wear a uniform, isn't it?  I don't have to wear a uniform and sometimes I wish I did! Then again, let me be careful what I wish for! Some job locations require its employees to be formal, suit, pantyhose, pumps .   Some might not be too formal, casual business dress is OK !  While I don't have to get too formal with what I wear to work, as a professional, I am always dressed neatly for the office. My style is sometimes with a bit of flair , without being too outlandish! I wear accessories often .  Here are some ideas for what to wear for work style! Self portraits of my looks for work! Green Shift dress (from a suit) with a white men's shirt (Van Heusen) - hoop earrings Floral patterned navy dress (Chesley) with a striped light blue shirt and belt Grey sweater - Old Navy (eons ago!) Curvy Diva's Style Book - How to Wear Sweatshirt

Edited: 1/10/2013: It's unfortunate that either Lucky Magazine or Margie have removed the fab photo I posted of her when I originally wrote this article. You can go to the magazine or Margie's blog that I mentioned below (and disappointing, even linking and crediting doesn't seem to count anymore) to see her style I wrote this article about. I'll do one even better, today I posted about a pair of shoes I loved , and I'm dressed similarly, so here's a photo of me in the look! :)  ___________________________ I saw this gorgeous curvy diva's photo in Lucky Magazine online and I love her look! She's Margie Ashcroft, from her feature, Margie Plus on luckymag.com, showing how she wears her grey sweatshirt layered for Fall.  I love that she paired it with the bright skirt which gives it the "pop" of color .  She has great legs!  The accessories are also bold and beautiful! Loving her look enough to try it! You go girl! Margie Ashcroft on

One Dress - Several Ways to Wear It!

One dress, several different ways to wear it!  Here's a lace dress that I saw when reading an article on glamour.com from their article 30 November Outfit Ideas - showing you 30 outfits you can wear using several pieces from your wardrobe.  It's a great article, however, my favorite item is this lace dress: It is a great looking dress, in the perfect "neutral" color t hat will work with anything!  Did I mentioned that it was a lace dress?  It is!  Take a look at the different outfit combination and you know what curvy divas ?  I would wear them all!  Wouldn't you? This would be the going out anywhere, movies, a get-together or dinner look! Note the accessories! This would be the more glamourous look, formal party, an evening  at the theatre...what else? What made this look is the tone-on-tone look the shoes and the tulle underneath! Add a jacket of a buttoned down shirt underneath, and you are ready for the office, a conference or a

Victoria Beckham Loves Our Curvy Bodies

I've always liked Victoria Beckham since her days as Posh Spice.  Because of my oldest daughter Jessica, I've loved the Spice Girls from their beginnings (and still do)!  I liked Victoria even more when she married one of the hottest guys in Soccer, David Beckham ~drool~! Then she became a designer and I liked her fashion sense!  Her designs are pretty much out of most budget friendly fashionista's reach.  But it doesn't hurt to love her style! I also found out she does make clothing for the curvy woman! Isn't that great curvy divas ?! I love her look in the outfit below . Those boots were definitely made for walking! Oh and by the way, that belt. ..I see her in it everywhere because it works with everything; and you know what?   I want one too! Here's Oprah in her design: Here's Jennifer Hudson in her design: To read the glamour.com article please copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.glamour.com/fashion/blogs/s
