Love it or Leave it?

I'm loving the look of this dress and I don't think my curves are too much for it! :-)  It comes w/a self sash, but I'm not wearing it in this picture.  What say you curvy divas ? I will do a "Look of the Day" when I've worn it out (which might be for dinner at my daughter's for Christmas)! Bought on sale! Jennifer Lopez' Colorblock dress (in XL) at Kohl's Check out the link on Kohl's website, not too many sizes left! http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1130088/jennifer-lopez-colorblock-maxi-dress.jsp

Look of the Day

I've mentioned before that my style is very eclectic. I dance to the beat of a different drummer (to coin a phrase), at least in my head I do! Recently I wore this outfit and really liked it despite the colors and the fact that I didn't wear a different handbag with my boots which are snake print! :-)  How about you curvy divas, have you done that before, mixed your prints? I've written about how to do that in past articles!

How can you not LOVE your Curves?!

I came across an article on 2010 London's Fashion Week on dailymail.co.uk about a couple stylists who quit working with an knitwear designer Mark Fast because he wanted to use fuller sized (or plus sized) models to showcase his design!   He had to scramble to get his show off and running and present his fashion on the runway, thank heavens he did! In the end, he did do as he wanted, using at least two curvier size 12-14 models to showcase his designs .  While I have nothing against women who are thinner, and leaner.   I love any woman of any size that looks beautiful and confident!   When I saw the photographs of the women who wore the designs, to me, the women who looked the best in his designs had more "meat on her bones", to coin a phrase! Here are the women he used to showcase his designs who are considered plus sized in the fashion industry: Compared to the models who are the "ideal" conventional fashion weight used by almost all design...

Glossary of Fashion Terms

I've learned some new words used in Fashion , and gotten familiar with some I used to know! (like my pun - love that song!lol!)  But seriously, it's always good to have an idea what some of these fashion stylists, magazines and bloggers are talking about when it comes to Fashion , don't you agree?  So I've made a note of some of those popular terminology and shared them with you curvy divas ! Baroque = Embroidered, ornate designs Oxblood = Burgundy-like, blood red colors On-Trend = Stylish, trendy Chiconomics = living fashionably well, despite the economy [similar to Recessionista] Recessionista = fashion trendsetter who doesn't let the economy stop their style Mega = Cool [as in really, really cool] Ferosh = a combination of someone who is fashionably fierce and not afraid to show their ferociousness - a terminology coined by Project Runway's Christian Soriano. Boyfriend = clothing/fashion borrowed from your boyfriend Fruit Salad = ...

Leggings

I love leggings and   despite what the other folks out there in the sizes 0 - 12 world may think and they always opine, there's nothing wrong with a curvy diva in leggings!  It's always been a cringe worthy moment when I hear comments like "women that size shouldn't wear leggings" or "leggings are not pants and should not be worn by themselves"! While I agree somewhat with the latter quote, I do say "yes" we can wear leggings! Personally, I prefer to wear leggings with tunics or with dresses that are shorter.  I am more comfortable wearing them with leggings.  What I do not like seeing curvy divas, is a woman in leggings paired with short, tight tee-shirt.  Most time the leggings are too thin and there will be a glimpse of butt crack! Seriously, stop that!  It is always good to look in the mirror at your backside before you jaunt off on your adventure.  Be sure to look at yourself in outside lighting (standing by a window), not just wh...

Curvy Diva Dresses!

I've found a new designer website that is perhaps not quite that new! However, since this is the first I've heard about them, it's new to me and I wanted to share my new discovery with you. Although, the retail trail blazers The Limited are not new, they've been around for a while. In fact, I used to work for them a very long, long time ago back in the day! I Love their clothing, love their many styles from the variety of stores.  But I did not know they had a curvy diva side to them ! Oh yes they do;  meet eloquii ! Eloquii by the Limited offers women's plus sized clothing ! I came upon their  website  eloquii.com   and was quite pleased with what I saw! Size Matters

I find it interesting that so many regular designers or popular stores do not carry full curvy diva sizes. In this day and age, don't you think they should? Take for example, an email I received from one of my online subscriptions, Shop it To Me . They featured several styles with budget-friendly prices from a couple of brands that I like.   Victoria's Secret Flirty Skir t - $9.99 Take for example this Victoria's Secret  flirty skirt, it's listed on clearance for $9.99!   Wow what a deal!  Although it comes in size XL, their XL is a size 16!  It wouldn't work for some of us now would it?  However, if it does for you, great buy! :) [Sizing for curvy divas at Victoria's Secret runs, 12 L ; 14 L & 16 XL] Banana Republic's Heritage Georgette Blouse in Cocoon - $59.99 This beautiful blouse from Banana Republic is great to wear with pants, skirt or shorts.  The size is available in XL a size 16.  [Sizing for curvy divas at Banana Repu...

Instead of Stilettos....

Try wedges!  Wedges have become quite fashionable and are available in a variety of styles!  Another plus with wearing wedges is they are not as uncomfortable and will give you a better distribution in proportion to your feet and body, no teetering here....unless you're over 5inches of course!  Sheinside.com have some wonderful (and trendy) looks in wedges that ranged from the regular to the ornate! What I love about this website is they have shoes that will fit any budget! The sizes are European sizes but you will be able to get the size comparable to American sized shoes. Listed at $47.00.  Love the stud details! Listed at $53.00. Not too "bells & whistles" for the more traditional wearer! Sandy Colorblock Wedges $99  – Lucky Brand   from Glamour.com/shoes The one thing I have noticed is the plus sized looks offered for curvy plus sized divas are not as attractive or "cute" as these are.  So be sure to shop ...
