Leggings Week: How to get a Professional Look in Leggings.

Some people believe that we should never use leggings to replace pants.   I agree.  However, I think that a lot of women confuses tights with leggings. Tights should always be worn under your clothing. Leggings is outer wear.  Take a look at the outfit below. Although I am wearing leggings, I have layered it.  Have you ever had one of those moments when you just don't want to look fat in what you plan on wearing?  I chose this combination outfit for that reason, and for the comfort and style.  I chose  the T-Shirt dress from H&M . I also layered a blue stretchy tank underneath for modesty's sake. The leggings are S.O. brand from Kohl's .

Love it or Leave it: The Jumpsuit

On my Style Want List for 2015 is a jumpsuit.  The jumpsuit became very popular again and it is a look that is still around today. I have seen so many different styles and would like to have one that will fit me perfectly. I walked into  Kohl's the other day and saw an extra large poster of Jennifer Lopez wearing a jumpsuit that made me sigh and whispered "wow".  JLO was wearing the heck out of that jumpsuit.  of course having a stylist and great lighting made it even better!lol! I decided to try on the two I liked the best, one black and the other a black & white print, both JLO's design.   While the black jumpsuit was attractive, and I loved the pockets, the fit wasn't what I liked. I felt it had too much going on.   The waist was gathered elastic band, with a self string, and the bodice was a deep V neckline with a small hook for modesty.  It was a jersey cotton material but it wasn't a great fit for me. I didn't love it. ...

Style Resolutions 2015: Want - Jumpsuit

I have yet to set my fashion goals for the New Year curvy divas.  I hope to share them with you in upcoming articles.  I thought this would be a clever way of doing it!  I like jumpsuits. In fact, the last time I wore one, I was 18.  Eighteen!!!!  It was a grey cotton silk jumpsuit and very sophisticated, which was how I felt whenever I wore it!  My jumpsuit was also an eye-catcher because I received a lot of attention when I wore it.  But that was years ago.  Fast Forward to 2014. I have been looking at the various styles of jumpsuits off and online since they became a hit again.   The fashion has carried over into 2015 and as a curvy woman, the jumpsuit I buy will have to fit and look great.  I found some great looking jumpsuits online.  I think Jennifer Hudson is stunning in her strapless jumpsuit.  The lariet long necklace is perfect too! Kim Kardashian is in a plunging neckline, full-cut jumpsuit. ...

Horizontal Stripes and the Curvy Girl

I'm obsessed with stripes! LOL! What am I not "obsessed" with right curvy divas?!  It is not about being obsessed though, I'm going to start using the word "passionate" instead, much nicer!   So, I'm so very passionate about stripes.  Over the years, since I was growing up in fact, I've always heard that girls with hips and too much going on with their bodies, should not wear stripes , especially horizontal stripes. To that I say...."PFFfftttt"!  What's with all these rules for us curvy girls I wonder?   I advocate for us to dress the way we want to and be confident in who we are.  I'll get off my soap box for now.  Take a look at my latest style-look, I wore these to the office recently, on Casual Friday.  I wore a white shirt under my dress and belted it. Belting it defined my waist and made me feel oh so chic!  Because my stripes were c ol or fu l , (summer fun) I tried not to over-accessorize.   f...

Can Fat be Fashionable?

If we were to think the way so many designers and retailers "out there" do, one would think fat is NOT fashionable. However, I beg to differ and so will you I am sure curvy divas.   This sweater, flirty skirt, flats w/tights...styled out! Sure it may take more materials to make clothing for the larger size woman, but what's wrong with that?  Isn't it just a matter of supply and demand? Pretty much as it is in any given situation to say for example, the demand for materials to build bigger houses, or to design and build a much more advanced and high-tech equipment or vehicle....should I continue...?  You get the point?! LOVE her style We know designers and retailers already do charge a lot for anything they produce, until their clothings are marked down and go on sale.  So what's the big deal uh?   We might be larger in size but we love fashion just the same. It s a good thing that there are so many beautiful curvy divas around who do prove how t...

How do you feel about neon colors curvy divas?  I don't mind that color-family at all. I guess by now you have received their new catalogues, with the amazing prices that makes you go, "How is that possible?"   Or you look at each of the clothes inside and "ohhed" and "awwwed" at the stylish coolness of their new looks? Who am I talking about? Why JC Penney of course, now fashionably called JCP!! They have definitely come full-circle, re-inventing themselves with a new look, introducing themselves to an entirely new audience!  My 11 year old being one of them!  We did a Mall crawl this past weekend and out of curiosity, we decided to stop in to window-shop at JCP to see if what they showed in their catalogue, is really what is going on? Well curvy divas , it is!! They have clothing that are so clean and simple, yet so stylish!   The colors remind me of candy and bubble gums and those hazy days of Summer and Spring combined!   I even remarked that the looks brought me back to my childhood when the clothing was simple but stylishly nice! ...

Found: Stripe Dress from Kohl's!

I couldn't wait to share this curvy divas! I've been looking for a black and white stripe dress for the longest time.  I just couldn't find the perfect one!  Lo and behold, I found this dress on the rack at Kohl's!  It wasn't black and white, it was grey and black, but it looked good! I grabbed it off the rack and headed to the fitting room.  I didn't want it to be a figure hugging type of dress, so a fit was needed!   On closer inspection, I saw it was the Sonoma brand.  It was priced on sale at $39.99!! A great price, which I received for even less at the register because I had their 15% off bargain email!!!   Long & Elegant! Sonoma brand dress A round neckline, nice finish! Notice the diagonal setting of the stripes on the bottom, that's what got me to buy it!  A flattering  look! What I wore in a day! I decided to wear it with this sweater! Apt. 9 Cowl neck sweater - A steal from last Summer also fr...

You might know by now curvy divas,  Kohl's is one of my favorite stores to shop!  I love it because they carry fabulous names in fashion and fabulous finds for every sizes, including ours!  You have seen the other some of the clothes I've gotten from Kohl's but I've never shared my Vera Wang finds...um..not true, I just remembered, I did share it before!  My Vera Wang sheath dress (XL) from several seasons ago that I absolutely love to wear!  I paired it with leggings, (have worn with jeans or dress pants too)! See the look here: One of the other items I have from Vera Wang (XL), a long Satin Jacket with Self Sash/Belt.  It is knee length and I've worn it with dresses, skirts and pants.  Always "out on the town", but never to work.  Until recently!  I've decided that my clothes will no longer sit in my closet waiting for me to find somewhere "nice" or some  "fancy occasion" to wear them!  I spend so many hours five days a we...

If there was ever a Manstyle-Suit I would wear...

This would be it! I like a great suit, and a woman in a suit that looks like this, confident, relax and oozing sex-appeal too, without even trying!   The designers always say every woman should own a nice gentleman's-style anything, sweater, shirt, jacket, and I totally agree!   Even for us curvy divas , it doesn't hurt to own any of these "boyfriend" items because we will rock the look!   I love the look of this suit!  Notice the length of the pant leg, the details on the jacket gives it the feminine look we need.  Note the muted accessories. You can take this look from day to night by changing the blouse, or by adding statement accessories!   Giorgio Armani Men style suit for women. http://pinterest.com/pin/42925002670497477/
