Style to Fit You

I discovered a new website with some great fashionable clothing. Unfortunately they only go up to a size 14! I do like that they do go up to a size 14, kudos for that bowanddrape.com ; and I do like what I see! Plus they have accessories. To be honest though, I'm kinda tired of these designers and websites that only offer me accessories when their clothing is so chic and I can't fit them! But, all is not lost curvy divas , we can peruse at will, admire, save what we like, and go find it elsewhere! On the Bow and Drape website you will be able to put your personal information in for your body type, and they will give you suggestions as to what will suit you! That my curvy divas, is styling inspiration! So use as your style inspiration! I love this silhouette because it is flattering on most body types.   You can dress it up or down by adding accessories!  If you want more curves, add a belt! Heels or flat, or even boots, your choice! You can even add a scarf. Just

Halloween Chic

It's Halloween next week here in the United States of America, on October 31st , some people celebrate this fun non-holiday, and some do not.  Are you one who celebrates curvy diva ?   Do you become the Sexy Siren or Nurse or a Vampiress, or even an action figure?  Whatever your tastes, here are some suggestions  of great accessories and makeup, I found with their links on Rachel Zoe's, The Zoe Report! If you're going as a Vampiress (even a guy as a vampire but you may want a less shimmery polish) you could try this: You can go to zoya.com to see this and many more colors! You could also try Givenchy's Satin lipcolor: Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick on sephora.com - many colors to choose These Wolford tights are fabulous! You can even wear them any day of the week! Scents of a Woman

I think I've mentioned before curvy divas that smelling good is a pre-requisite for all fabulously curvy divas haven't I?  No?  Well, not only should you look good, but you should smell good too!   I was perusing elle.com and jumped over to a link for Sephora on sephora.com .   Christmas is coming as you know, the time for give, give and giving some more! Sephora has a perfume sampler that they are offering where you get a beautifully designed box with 10 (ten) sample perfumes inside! The cost of this is $75!  We're talking designer scents and the cost is usually $175 so you know you're getting a bargain!   It's definitely a gift idea to try!

Leopard Print Fall Finds

Ninewest.com - $109 I've worn Snake print, Tiger stripes, Zebra print,  and Leopard.   My favorite is the Leopard. It's a print I've written about before and it is one of the most stylish!  You don't wear leopard print for hiding in a corner, or going onseen. Oh no curvy divas , wearing leopard print means you are pretty fashion forward and you will be NOTICED !     You can wear it to add a "pop" of style or color to your look! Here are some great looking style suggestions from vogue.com, styles under $120 in Leopard print! Top Shop's Animal Skater dress - $72 - topshop.com Zara printed top and sheath skirt - $60 each - zara.com Asos Faux Fur coat - $110 - asos.com Leopard print clutch - $40 - express.com Go to vogue.com, or cut & paste this link: http://www.vogue.com/guides/2012-120-items-under-120/#

Men Are Plus Sized Too

Yes, they are!  We know it, they know it!  And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!  Some women like a guy with a little more to him than some!  Hey, it works both ways wouldn't you agree?!   What I don't hear or seen mentioned often though are Plus Sized Men and especially nothing about Plus Sized Men's Fashion ...until now curvy divas ! Larger sized men are not even referred to as "Plus Sized" That's reserved for us women!  Men are called "Big and Tall"!   I read with interest an article in the New York Times recently about fashion for the more portly men!  According to the New York Times , men who want fashionable plus sized clothing turn to GQ or to valetmag.com for their style inspiration!  There's also another plus sized website for men, chubstr.com which was founded by Bruce Sturgell in 2011 .  Mr. Sturgell started the website much the same way that many websites for plus sized divas were started, because there were none,

What You Should Not Wear on a Plane

So you are going on a trip curvy divas , and you have to fly to wherever it is your fashionable self is off to!  What do you wear?  Well, you have to plan it right?  How many days, so many outfits, and don't forget the shoes to match the outfits! Now that we have that under control, what exactly are we going to wear while travelling?  Should you dress up, wear heels, look like a boy, look like your cute, fashionable self? What does a girl wear so that she doesn't look like she just rolled out of bed?~! Well, I'll tell you what you don't wear!   Caroline Costello of Smartertravel.com showed us nine (9) things not to wear while in-flight on your next trip! First off, dress comfortably .  That way you can be comfortable sitting for as long you're going to be sitting for.  You don't want to be uncomfortably clad in too tight clothing or anything that just won't let you breathe easy while sitting! Say no to those gorgeous heels!  You have to wear c

Curvy or Model-thin..what's your fantasy?

We know that in our Society today, the woman who is model-thin, a size 0 is the ideal for designers , and also for some men.  They don't want women who look even remotely like they have eaten, or that they do eat!   How in the heck did they come by this standard anyway? How did designers create this as the normal?  Because these designers used those mannequins! The mannequins being without any particular shapes at those times, (years ago) seem to make their clothing fit better.  This form appealed to the aesthetics of the ones designing their clothing.  That is why they have made this the normal requirement for women, to be that thin, unrealistically so!  These ideals, and Society's embracing of them, are what have caused anorexia and bulimia in young girls and women! Plus Model Magazine featured an article in January 2012 about our bodies and what's wrong with  it? (NOTHING!) Then we have the other end of the spectrum curvy divas , the full-figured woman.   Her si

How can you not LOVE your Curves?!

I came across an article on 2010 London's Fashion Week on dailymail.co.uk about a couple stylists who quit working with an knitwear designer Mark Fast because he wanted to use fuller sized (or plus sized) models to showcase his design!   He had to scramble to get his show off and running and present his fashion on the runway, thank heavens he did! In the end, he did do as he wanted, using at least two curvier size 12-14 models to showcase his designs .  While I have nothing against women who are thinner, and leaner.   I love any woman of any size that looks beautiful and confident!   When I saw the photographs of the women who wore the designs, to me, the women who looked the best in his designs had more "meat on her bones", to coin a phrase! Here are the women he used to showcase his designs who are considered plus sized in the fashion industry: Compared to the models who are the "ideal" conventional fashion weight used by almost all designers -

Full Figured Fashion Week

I've been looking curvy divas . Searching and reading and trying to find anything, since I wrote about Fashion's Night Out worldwide , and Fashion Week in New York in earlier blog articles, I promised to find out if there were any plus sized fashions featured there.  So far, I've found none.  That's a sad tale really.  I did found out however, that earlier this year, June 2012 to be exact, there was Full Figured Fashion Week !  I wonder why the two can't go together?  Would the thinner people be upset if full sized fashion were featured at that time as well? I think not!  It perhaps has a lot to do with the designers, and perhaps the retailers too, who knows?! FFFW.com gave awards to those who have played unforgettable roles in the industry!  The full figure fashion show had many sponsors, including Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart.  The plus size fashion magazine, Full Blossom Magazine , dedicated an entire issue to the occasion and events that made up that i

Bring your Sexy Back

Sometimes curvy divas , you have just got to rock your style. Be confident in yourself .  Being confident in yourself shows just how much you love yourself. And you can be happy with you! I love singer and actress, Jill Scott's look in the photo below. Her hair, low cut, less maintenance , however, she still has to take care of those tresses!   Her lips...Screams out beautiful color with her smile! Her makeup, a bit more for a night out!   Her dress, beautiful and sparkly , again, just right for a night out!  And of course, heels! It's always a good idea to wear heels when going out on the town . It gives you a more sexy look no matter what!  If you're not too comfortable with heels, then wear platforms or stacked heels, even kitten heels; as long as you give yourself a bit of a lift, plus you'll be strutting around looking all cute and stuff! Glossary of Fashion Terms

I've learned some new words used in Fashion , and gotten familiar with some I used to know! (like my pun - love that song!lol!)  But seriously, it's always good to have an idea what some of these fashion stylists, magazines and bloggers are talking about when it comes to Fashion , don't you agree?  So I've made a note of some of those popular terminology and shared them with you curvy divas ! Baroque = Embroidered, ornate designs Oxblood = Burgundy-like, blood red colors On-Trend = Stylish, trendy Chiconomics = living fashionably well, despite the economy [similar to Recessionista] Recessionista = fashion trendsetter who doesn't let the economy stop their style Mega = Cool [as in really, really cool] Ferosh = a combination of someone who is fashionably fierce and not afraid to show their ferociousness - a terminology coined by Project Runway's Christian Soriano. Boyfriend = clothing/fashion borrowed from your boyfriend Fruit Salad =

So many Fashions, so little time!

Or maybe that should be so little cash! LOL! Listen curvy divas , with the variety of fashion that's "out there" this Season, a girl can go nuts trying to fit it all into her closet !  However, cooler heads prevail and we can peruse at will the trends, styles, and suggestions, coming at us from all sources!   Here are some looks from another website I like to visit, fabfitfun.com! Read, "Not Your Grandma's Wardrobe"  (I'll say!) Their take on the many types of patterns for Fall! (see link below) Here are my two favorites! Fake Brands, Why not to buy

As lovers of fashion and style curvy divas , the one thing we must be careful of when we are spending our hard, earned cash, is anything that should be real but it is really fake!  Sure the fake items might fit more with our budgets, sometimes.  We might even think that it will be OK to buy the fake knockoff because it will look like the real thing, even though in our hearts we know it's not.  And to be honest, a real fashionista will be able to tell a fake from the real designer duds .  But one of the thing that's worse than a knockoff, is counterfeit!   There are knockoffs, a look that might mimic the style of a brand without claiming to be "the" brand.  But there are those who are selling merchandise and claiming it to be the real thing, when it's not.  That's a counterfeit! I love a good deal.  I shop discount and sales and will continue to do so.  But the one thing that I've learned from very early on was that buying counterfeit items are just
