My Favorite Looks at the Oscars & Random Style Notes

Did you catch the styles on the Oscar's Red Carpet this past week curvy divas?  I did too.  My overall favorite look was worn by an actress who knows how to "kick-ass" in her movies, did just that at the Oscars.  Scarlett Johansson wore a gorgeous green Atelier Versace gown and her statement necklace was a beautiful compliment to her entire look - made a perfect style note!   Scarlett Johansson as seen on elle.com She also wore two different style earrings, nope, they didn't match. You go girl! Oprah Winfrey was very elegant in her Vera Wang gown.  I love the color, and the detailing on the bodice of the dress accentuated her shape very nicely. Style note - sheer sleeves. Makeup: Lipstick as Concealer

The beauty product that I use the most is a concealer because of the dark circles under my eyes. When I have had a good night's rest, work out regularly and my eating habits focuses on the healthier side, there are no dark circles to worry about. Unfortunately, 90% of the time, I can't do that as often as I would like. Because as a mom, wife, full-time employee and everything else in between, life happens!   I usually use a regular under eye concealer, natural or sometimes dark beige.  The concealer doesn't always give a smooth finish, because it shows up, or doesn't give good coverage if I don't use a lot, and most times by the end of the day, it's gone, along with most of my makeup, because I wear light makeup when I go to work.   Good news!  I've found an even better way to cover those dark circles. By using red or pink lipstick, blending well, then applying loose powder, the dark circles disappear!  What?  Yes, it works, and that's the new makeup

Manstyle at the 2015 Grammys

The men at the 20th Grammy Awards did not disappoint at all, at least for me.  Their fashion sense were quite eclectic.  From the suited up, to the whimsical, to no ties aka "Air Ties", to the rocker look. Sam Smith, made a big sweep winning for almost all the category's he was in....did he win them all?  Unsure, but he was dressed to impress in a white bow tie tuxedo.  Notice the shawl collar lapel, and the longer cuffs at the sleeves.  I actually like the slight flaring which gives his suit an edgier look. 2 015 Grammy Awards Winner Sam Smith Photo by WENN as seen on Yahoo Style Singer Tom Jones looked handsome and dapper, showing the younger dudes how to dress!  I like that he wasn't afraid of the bold color. Would you call his look monochromatic since he was in all blue, even his tie was too?  What are your thoughts on this curvy divas? Singer, Tom Jones Nick Jonas was suited up as well.  I like this plaid suit. I think he would have made a more b

2015 Grammys: Rihanna did it again...and more Fashion-Glam Moments

Last night the 57th Grammy Awards took over Hollywood and had most of us riveted to our television for 3 hours curvy divas, did you tune in?  I was exhausted by the end of it.  Mostly because it seem to drag on this year. Could it have been the fact that it didn't have the same flair of adventure and disobedience that I expected?  That expectation of unexpectedness is what made the Grammys exciting over the years. The unexpected rocking out of the Stars who make our hearts swoon at their music.   While the happenings inside the Staple Center left me feeling ho-hum, the fashions didn't disappoint! My favorite look of the night, RiRi, Rihanna killed it.  I love that she went out of the box (she was literally covered up) in her very pink Giambattista Valli haute couture-glam gown. Wasn't it just recently I mentioned my love for couture ?! Rihanna in Couture Giambattista Valli as seen on Yahoo Style (Getty Image) My second favorite style look was the opposite of

Friday February 6 - Wear Red Day

In recognition of our health curvy divas, the National Institute of Health (NIH) has declared tomorrow a day to wear red.  In 2002 the NIH created the Red Dress  ®  as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness. Of course you can see why. The color red for our heart, somehow that color is associated with love and matters of the heart isn't it?!  Plus when you wear red, you are a force to be recon with. You feel bold, strong and beautiful. The Heart Truth ®  created and introduced the  Red Dress ®  as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002 It is very important to remember to eat healthy, exercise, even if it is just 15 minutes a day.  That is a start to getting yourself healthier.  Heart disease is a silent killer.  It often takes us by surprise.  We don't recognize it until it is too late.  Don't forget to share this information with your best girlfriend, your mom, aunty, teacher, neighbor, and remind them to go to the d

Curvy News: Curves in Bikinis in Sports Illustrated

Remember last year I shared the news of the Curvy Girls makeover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue ?  Well, now it seems the people at Sports Illustrated have decided to have the gorgeous Ashley Graham in a Swimsuit for All advertisement. This ad with Ashley in the gorgeous black Swimsuit for All bikini will be featured in their annual swimsuit issue. It's great that a curvy full-figured woman is featured in Sports Illustrated, especially the famous swimsuit issue.  And yes, there's a but.....But just one ad? That's it, even if it's on two pages; or is that online?  Why not a photo shoot showing her beautiful curves featured with the other models?  Will men not lust after her too, or is her body too curvy?  Are her boobs too large?  Is she not pretty enough? Well, as one of the readers commented, "...baby steps".  Yes, baby steps, first an advertisement in the magazine, next the cover?!. It's great that Ashley will be in the magazine.  What are

Paris Fashion Week: The Look in Couture for Spring 2015

You know how much I love fashion for us curvy divas, hence this blog. You also know that I love fashion in general because of what I do share with you from my perspective.  But did you know that I love Couture?  Stop by and visit my  dedicated  Pinterest board .  I enjoy posting to it all things couture from around the Intraweb. This a gorgeous look from Giambattista Valli - love the Tulle! You may already love couture yourself because if you love fashion that is made to order, well, you are a fan!  As a young girl at Primary school I had to take Sewing and Needlepoint.  My mom was enthusiastic for me to be in that class to learn how to sew.  It was where I learned to sew embroidery, how to stitch and even design and cut.  Alas for my young mind at that point, I was just not awed by that class and was very happy when it was over.  My focus was more on writing and acting which I continued through high school.   Check out these leggings-style latex boots !
