Curvy News: Plus Size Fashion Walks NYFW 2015

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) 2015 came in and went out like lightning!  We always love the fabulous styles and fashion showcased for the world to see.  I usually love to do what is normal and look for the people who look like us on the Catwalk. Are they curvy, any type of plus sizes on that runway?  Hmmm...inquiring minds wants to know! Model wearing design from the recent Project Runway Finale Fashion show I was pleased to find out that there was a very unique event that occurred on September 11 at NYFW. Have you ever watched Project Runway on Lifetime Television?  It's one of my favorite programs, and one I must confess I don't indulge in as much as I used to.  But I do enjoy watching it when I do. Well curvy divas, guess what?  One of the designers from the current Season 14 was the lucky presenter of their fashion at the show's NYFW Finale production.  Because there is a designer whose designs are geared for us curvy divas, there was sp...

Curvy Women's Fashion Going Mainstream

So far this year plus size fashion has gone more mainstream with the appearances of fashion for larger sizes showing at, and during regular-sized fashion shows.   New York, London, Italy had plus size fashions walking down the runway , and this very weekend, LA will also feature Haute Fashion for larger sizes .  This might not seem like a big deal to many, but for us curvy divas, it means we are making a mark on the industry by showing designers how important we are!  No longer are we accepting nondescript, unattractive styles.   We love ourselves, and we want to look just as good as everyone else!.  It is because of this empowerment and our buying power , that designers are taking notice. I recently read on The Curvy Fashionista , that plus size fashion made its first appearance at the Mercedes Benz Fashion show at NYFW ! Cabiria, a plus size fashion line funded by way of Kickstarter was the first brand to have this honor.    Photos by way o...

That Elusive Tiny Waistline Vs The Fat Belly

As women in today's society, we have to deal with the constant barrage of advertisements, television programs, designers, everyone and anyone, who constantly compare our bodies and have an opinion of what or who we should look like!  Add being a curvy woman to that equation and what we get is often that we do not measure up to the "American ideal" of what beautiful is, just because of our size! Back in the day when corsets were ever so popular , the women who used to wear them (and some still do) were often seen as very beautiful because of their tiny waistline!  Today, looking at a photograph such as the one below , the woman in that picture seem almost skeletal , and dare I say, "in-human"?  How is it possible for women to want to have such a tiny waist?  While having too much fat around the middle is unhealthy for anyone, male or female, being that naturally small for any woman is practically impossible! Buttoned-down White Men's Shirt

Have you ever worn any items from your closet three different ways?  It's not really that hard to do is it  curvy divas? That was the discussion on a website I visit often BeyondBlackWhite.com , I entered a contest for a chance to win a $100 Visa Gift Card.  My first thought was for my black knit dress from Kohl's,which I even wrote about recently .  I've worn it three different ways in the past, with jacket & heels; with a pair of dress pants; and with boots and a jacket; I mentioned this on the blogsite for my entry! I got to thinking that there are other clothing that I do wear in a pretty versatile way, one of them is   my white buttoned-down shirt !  It is a men's shirt that I love, especially because it belonged to my dad.  This was my most recent outfit with that white buttoned-down shirt: For Work: White shirt, styled with long black skirt & beige/khaki boots Accessories: multi-strand pearl necklace, ea...

Fab Fall Looks

Soon our love affair with the sun will be over and so will our flirty way of dressing for it!  As the days begin to get cooler we will want to cover up and wear more clothing. Chadwicks is one of the places I love to shop  from and their clothing is not only affordable, they are of great quality! I visited their online site and here are some looks I love to transition into the colder weather. I would definitely wear this pink cardigan with a bold accessory to amp it up a bit! Love the model's look! (I've already forgiven them for not using a plus sized model) Real Comfort Drape Cardigan Sweater - $29.99 A Turtleneck sweater is always a girl's best friend during the cold season! Silk Blend Turtleneck Sweater - $29.99 So curvy divas , although we know it will be cold, how can we not be the daring divas we are?  You can still wear dresses such as this leopard print dress (yes a leopard print dress!) and just be sure to wear warm scarves, glove...
