Curvy Looks: Fierce Fashion Friday

So, you know how it goes sometimes curvy divas, you're stylin' and sometimes some people just don't get it?  You know, those times when you feel a groove and you just wear whatever you want to because you're feeling it and you're fierce?
Having fun with these fun glasses that belong to my daughter Amanda!lol!

You may be feeling it, but some people don't.   What do you do?  Do you stop being yourself and conform to what society deems as conservative or more appropriate?  Or do you march to the beat of your own drum and just be your curvy, fabulous self?  Well, I do hope you be your authentic self. We all have those style moments when what we wear don't really....work.  But wear it anyway with the confidence of who we are.  These are the moments when you discover what works for you and what doesn't. And to that I say, YES!!!!
A recent look on a cool day here in Orlando. I wanted to be warm but stylish, in a fun, print leggings.

And you know what, just tweak your style a bit and then you will discover even more ways to style your looks!  Here are a few of those moments for me, to this I say, cheers to a Fierce Fashion Friday!!!!

Me and my fun leggings! Admittedly, this one was only at home....

This hair look was tired, so tired!!! I knew but I did it anyway!

I didn't mind this clothing choice, but once again, my hair was a mess, a bird's nest mess!

It was a very cold day and I wanted warmth. My style wasn't weird, just different, and yes, I rocked that look! It was a sweater dress, tights and combat boots. Sweater and scarf.

I own up to this one, Jeans cut-offs with a mini dress and flats...
Hey, sometimes what you wear makes sense only to you!  Be. You.

A Re-post: Red Carpet Reviews - 2013 American Music Awards

Another post of mine that was a write up for Orlando Fashion Week Magazine.  It was published there previously.  If you missed it, I'm sharing it again here on my blog for the first time, with some edits for relevance of course curvy divas. A writer's work is never done! Let me know which celebrity wore your favorite style! Did you watch last year's AMAs? Me too!  It was one of the best with my favorite Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull as host.  Did you catch the fashion that walked the red carpet?  No? Well, pull up a chair and I'll fill you in. At the 2012 award show, Christina Aguilera was beautiful in all her curvyness in a Pamella Roland dress, unfortunately, she went overboard on the suntan lotion.  Last year, she showed off a much leaner physique in a white Maria Lucia Hohan cut-out dress with a high split on the side.  Her shoes were Christian Louboutin peep-toe and I loved her pave jewelry. Global Fashion: For the Bride: Bridal Week in Barcelona

Tis the season for brides, in fact, it really is ANY season that a bride to be chooses to get married.  However many weddings take place from Spring to Summer.  It must be something about the warm weather coming back, and flowers blooming with that scent in the air...could it be romance?! I took a  virtual walk over to glamour.com and found some really beautiful photos of bridal gowns in an article written by Glamour contributor Kim Fusaro , in her article featuring Barcelona's annual fashionable event, Bridal Week.

Fashionistas - What's in a Word

You have heard this word before curvy divas , "Fashionistas"?  When it comes to anything to do with fashion and being fashionable, I am sure you have!  Do you know who coined the word and how it came about?  Well, first of all I didn't even realized that there was a story to the word, much less it being "coined" by any one particular person!  I just thought it was one of those words that came about and became popular because of its usage and in reference to anything fashion! According to Elle.com's Culture News, in an article by Rebecca Moss , the word Fashionistas was first created by Stephen Fried. In 1993, Fried, a young Journalist was writing a book about the Model Gia Carangi, who died very young, (sidenote-have you seen the [autobiography] movie of the same name, Gia? - I did and it is one to watch)!  Stephen met with people in the Industry and wanted a word that would represent who and what they were.  Because models and the Industry weren't p...
