Vintage Clothing in Plus Sizes

Lately I've been thinking about vintage wear, especially because I watch Bravo TV a lot and a new program called Decades, features the ups and daily happenings of  their store which specializes in vintage designer clothing for sizes 8 - 0. If they do carry size 10 or 12, they've never mentioned that.  I'm guessing because they cater to a lot of Hollywood starlets. (although in this last episode they had a shoe sale and there were regular people shopping!)

It got me thinking that I do love vintage! I think I have mentioned that before curvy divas, especially because of my love for vintage costume jewelery.  It doesn't have to be from any particular designer, as long as it appeals to my sense of style and is well made!

I thought about getting involved with plus size vintage clothing and wondered if there is such a thing? I realized that there is because of Mod Cloth and Shabby Apple fashions!  I love their sites and have featured their clothing in articles in the past!  But what else would be "out there" I wondered?  So I turned to trusty Google and entered the words "plus size vintage clothing", and yes, they do exist!  I was surprise as the variety! Some I loved immediately, some I didn't like so much.

I came across several vintage plus sized clothing sites and the ones I liked were pinupgirlclothing.com (they do also cater to regular sized divas), and Chicstar.com.

This is my favorite look at pinupgirlclothing.com:

Chicstar also carries the most darling skirts!

I have a Vintage board on Pinterest that I have been pinning some of the fashion I like to.  I will definitely continue to keep pinning my inspirations on to it!  This is one of my favorite jewelery look:

A Re-post: Red Carpet Reviews - 2013 American Music Awards

Another post of mine that was a write up for Orlando Fashion Week Magazine.  It was published there previously.  If you missed it, I'm sharing it again here on my blog for the first time, with some edits for relevance of course curvy divas. A writer's work is never done! Let me know which celebrity wore your favorite style! Did you watch last year's AMAs? Me too!  It was one of the best with my favorite Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull as host.  Did you catch the fashion that walked the red carpet?  No? Well, pull up a chair and I'll fill you in. At the 2012 award show, Christina Aguilera was beautiful in all her curvyness in a Pamella Roland dress, unfortunately, she went overboard on the suntan lotion.  Last year, she showed off a much leaner physique in a white Maria Lucia Hohan cut-out dress with a high split on the side.  Her shoes were Christian Louboutin peep-toe and I loved her pave jewelry. Global Fashion: For the Bride: Bridal Week in Barcelona

Tis the season for brides, in fact, it really is ANY season that a bride to be chooses to get married.  However many weddings take place from Spring to Summer.  It must be something about the warm weather coming back, and flowers blooming with that scent in the air...could it be romance?! I took a  virtual walk over to glamour.com and found some really beautiful photos of bridal gowns in an article written by Glamour contributor Kim Fusaro , in her article featuring Barcelona's annual fashionable event, Bridal Week.

Fashionistas - What's in a Word

You have heard this word before curvy divas , "Fashionistas"?  When it comes to anything to do with fashion and being fashionable, I am sure you have!  Do you know who coined the word and how it came about?  Well, first of all I didn't even realized that there was a story to the word, much less it being "coined" by any one particular person!  I just thought it was one of those words that came about and became popular because of its usage and in reference to anything fashion! According to Elle.com's Culture News, in an article by Rebecca Moss , the word Fashionistas was first created by Stephen Fried. In 1993, Fried, a young Journalist was writing a book about the Model Gia Carangi, who died very young, (sidenote-have you seen the [autobiography] movie of the same name, Gia? - I did and it is one to watch)!  Stephen met with people in the Industry and wanted a word that would represent who and what they were.  Because models and the Industry weren't p...
