Technology in Fashion

After exploring sustainable fashion I wanted to see what else is out there other than the usual, and have discovered wearable technology!  I must say that this is very exciting! Being a fan of SyFy, and beholding anything futuristic well, I love the idea of wearable technology going mainstream!  Can you see yourself going to the department store or boutique and picking up a tee that has embedded into the fabric technology that can and will change your life?

Imagine if you didn't need to have your cellphone in your hand but rather the clothing that you wear will be able to do all the things that your cellphone does....you can say out loud, "Call Amanda" and suddenly Amanda is on the line for you to talk to!  Or "Do a Google search" and suddenly you're able to have the information you seek right in front of you? Well hold on a moment curvy divas, I don't know if that is all possible yet, but can you imagine if that were so?!

Jennifer Darmour wrote an article on fastcodesign.com, 3 Ways to Make Wearable Tech Wearable. She said:
"it’s all about making a powerful gadget that we can bolt onto our bodies without considering the new aspects of what it means to wear, rather than carry, something. And if we are not careful, we will be on our way to becoming cyborgs: bolting gadgets onto our bodies will distract, disrupt, and disengage us from others"

Well hopefully we won't be like cyborgs!lol! However, I love her idea of "integrating technology into the fabric of our lives"...!  Her idea is to make the wearable technology clothing beautiful to ensure consumers will want them! Looking at this clothing below, I agree!

Her second tip was in making the technology peripheral, wearable on other body parts, as in the top above, not just on our wrists or face.  Lastly, she suggests making the technology meaningful, that is, not just like a tracker as in when we workout and keeping tracks of our calories etc., but one that will interact with us telling us what to do such as reminding us to workout, what a novel idea!

Wearable technology is the future and hopefully it will be wanted and in demand by us, the consumers!  I have a feeling that it will be!

A Re-post: Red Carpet Reviews - 2013 American Music Awards

Another post of mine that was a write up for Orlando Fashion Week Magazine.  It was published there previously.  If you missed it, I'm sharing it again here on my blog for the first time, with some edits for relevance of course curvy divas. A writer's work is never done! Let me know which celebrity wore your favorite style! Did you watch last year's AMAs? Me too!  It was one of the best with my favorite Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull as host.  Did you catch the fashion that walked the red carpet?  No? Well, pull up a chair and I'll fill you in. At the 2012 award show, Christina Aguilera was beautiful in all her curvyness in a Pamella Roland dress, unfortunately, she went overboard on the suntan lotion.  Last year, she showed off a much leaner physique in a white Maria Lucia Hohan cut-out dress with a high split on the side.  Her shoes were Christian Louboutin peep-toe and I loved her pave jewelry. Global Fashion: For the Bride: Bridal Week in Barcelona

Tis the season for brides, in fact, it really is ANY season that a bride to be chooses to get married.  However many weddings take place from Spring to Summer.  It must be something about the warm weather coming back, and flowers blooming with that scent in the air...could it be romance?! I took a  virtual walk over to glamour.com and found some really beautiful photos of bridal gowns in an article written by Glamour contributor Kim Fusaro , in her article featuring Barcelona's annual fashionable event, Bridal Week.

Fashionistas - What's in a Word

You have heard this word before curvy divas , "Fashionistas"?  When it comes to anything to do with fashion and being fashionable, I am sure you have!  Do you know who coined the word and how it came about?  Well, first of all I didn't even realized that there was a story to the word, much less it being "coined" by any one particular person!  I just thought it was one of those words that came about and became popular because of its usage and in reference to anything fashion! According to Elle.com's Culture News, in an article by Rebecca Moss , the word Fashionistas was first created by Stephen Fried. In 1993, Fried, a young Journalist was writing a book about the Model Gia Carangi, who died very young, (sidenote-have you seen the [autobiography] movie of the same name, Gia? - I did and it is one to watch)!  Stephen met with people in the Industry and wanted a word that would represent who and what they were.  Because models and the Industry weren't p...
