Six Rules to Follow

We already perused having patterns and prints in our fashion wardrobe for the Summer.  However, we have to know how to wear them!  According to Styletips101 there are "6 Rules to Wearing Prints" that we should follow!

No. 1 - "We should wear one print at a time"

I agree with this somewhat.  If you're not afraid of making fashion statements or not afraid of the attention that comes with being a fashion statement, I say go ahead and wear your prints, any way you want to!  My rule of thumb here is to keep them in the same color family or in a color family that will blend well when worn together!  And if your patterns are similar, you will be a fashion hit!  See the following  image by photographer David Roemer for the New York Times; Styling by Susan Joy.

No. 2 - "Start with Accessories"

I agree with this fully!  First of all, as a lover of accessories, that's the safest way to introduce prints and patterns into your wardrobe curvy divas! In the previous article, I also featured accessories that would be a fun way to start with!

No. 3 - "Animal Prints" - when wearing it, "it is better to pair it with only black".

I say, again, it depends - on how busy your pattern is. On what you're wearing and on how you wear it!  Just put the outfit together carefully and you will find the style that will make you a fabulously diva!

No. 4 - "Keep it Classy"

No disagreement here! You don't want to look like a, dare I say it?  A circus freak!  You want to look well put together and stylish, not over the top!

No. 5 - "Fitted Prints"

Wearing prints that are not too large and in styles that are not too full-bodied can actually be slimming!  Another thing to note curvy divas, smaller prints can be quite flattering!

No. 6 - "Big prints and little prints" - According to the author of the article at styletips101 (no name given),  "Big prints make you look bigger, smaller prints are more forgiving"

I agree with her points! As I mentioned above, smaller prints can be more flattering.  However, there are prints and patterns on a larger scale that are fun to wear as long as you know what to wear and how to wear them!  Don't be afraid to refer to magazines and check online for tips on how to wear your style! And above all curvy divas, have fun!

A Re-post: Red Carpet Reviews - 2013 American Music Awards

Another post of mine that was a write up for Orlando Fashion Week Magazine.  It was published there previously.  If you missed it, I'm sharing it again here on my blog for the first time, with some edits for relevance of course curvy divas. A writer's work is never done! Let me know which celebrity wore your favorite style! Did you watch last year's AMAs? Me too!  It was one of the best with my favorite Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull as host.  Did you catch the fashion that walked the red carpet?  No? Well, pull up a chair and I'll fill you in. At the 2012 award show, Christina Aguilera was beautiful in all her curvyness in a Pamella Roland dress, unfortunately, she went overboard on the suntan lotion.  Last year, she showed off a much leaner physique in a white Maria Lucia Hohan cut-out dress with a high split on the side.  Her shoes were Christian Louboutin peep-toe and I loved her pave jewelry. Fashionistas - What's in a Word

You have heard this word before curvy divas , "Fashionistas"?  When it comes to anything to do with fashion and being fashionable, I am sure you have!  Do you know who coined the word and how it came about?  Well, first of all I didn't even realized that there was a story to the word, much less it being "coined" by any one particular person!  I just thought it was one of those words that came about and became popular because of its usage and in reference to anything fashion! According to Elle.com's Culture News, in an article by Rebecca Moss , the word Fashionistas was first created by Stephen Fried. In 1993, Fried, a young Journalist was writing a book about the Model Gia Carangi, who died very young, (sidenote-have you seen the [autobiography] movie of the same name, Gia? - I did and it is one to watch)!  Stephen met with people in the Industry and wanted a word that would represent who and what they were.  Because models and the Industry weren't p...

Global Fashion: For the Bride: Bridal Week in Barcelona
