Back to School Fashion & JC Penney's!

Well curvy divas, for some of you with children, it is that time of the year again, when Summer ends, and a new school year begins!  It's back to school time, and what comes to mind? Well, back to school fashion of course!

For weeks my daughter Amanda had been hinting to me that she wants everything, EVERYTHING new for her return to school, and that means making a really good impression on the first day!  Although my plans were to do combination shopping to keep us within a certain budget, I knew we also had to visit Plato's Closet!  She kept showing me photos her friends sent to her of their own shopping trips and what they will be wearing for the school year. Hmmm, being the budget-prepared mommy that I am, guess who wasn't fully prepared for this year's journey?  Me! Yep, me!  But thank heavens, just in time, we were able to go off to our favorite place, Fashion Square Mall and did just what she wanted!

Her one and only stop at the mall?  JCP of course! Because at Penney's they had what she wanted, Nom, Nom we had seen them on our previous trip! What made this trip even better for me, a 20% discount card I received in the mail, and a 60% sale going on that weekend - a mother's dream!

So without further ado, here is her back to school fashion!

A Re-post: Red Carpet Reviews - 2013 American Music Awards

Another post of mine that was a write up for Orlando Fashion Week Magazine.  It was published there previously.  If you missed it, I'm sharing it again here on my blog for the first time, with some edits for relevance of course curvy divas. A writer's work is never done! Let me know which celebrity wore your favorite style! Did you watch last year's AMAs? Me too!  It was one of the best with my favorite Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull as host.  Did you catch the fashion that walked the red carpet?  No? Well, pull up a chair and I'll fill you in. At the 2012 award show, Christina Aguilera was beautiful in all her curvyness in a Pamella Roland dress, unfortunately, she went overboard on the suntan lotion.  Last year, she showed off a much leaner physique in a white Maria Lucia Hohan cut-out dress with a high split on the side.  Her shoes were Christian Louboutin peep-toe and I loved her pave jewelry. Global Fashion: For the Bride: Bridal Week in Barcelona

Tis the season for brides, in fact, it really is ANY season that a bride to be chooses to get married.  However many weddings take place from Spring to Summer.  It must be something about the warm weather coming back, and flowers blooming with that scent in the air...could it be romance?! I took a  virtual walk over to glamour.com and found some really beautiful photos of bridal gowns in an article written by Glamour contributor Kim Fusaro , in her article featuring Barcelona's annual fashionable event, Bridal Week.

Fashionistas - What's in a Word

You have heard this word before curvy divas , "Fashionistas"?  When it comes to anything to do with fashion and being fashionable, I am sure you have!  Do you know who coined the word and how it came about?  Well, first of all I didn't even realized that there was a story to the word, much less it being "coined" by any one particular person!  I just thought it was one of those words that came about and became popular because of its usage and in reference to anything fashion! According to Elle.com's Culture News, in an article by Rebecca Moss , the word Fashionistas was first created by Stephen Fried. In 1993, Fried, a young Journalist was writing a book about the Model Gia Carangi, who died very young, (sidenote-have you seen the [autobiography] movie of the same name, Gia? - I did and it is one to watch)!  Stephen met with people in the Industry and wanted a word that would represent who and what they were.  Because models and the Industry weren't p...
