H&M Clothing Recycling: Sustainable Fashionistas

An article I wrote last November about Sustainable Fashion has me looking for fashion that is sustainable, i.e., fashion houses and designers that are and continue to be into taking care of the environment.  Those that actually do recycle and reuse clothing and accessories, not necessarily as re-sale only, but incorporating it into new, usable materials!  Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE Thrift, Vintage, etc., like it or not, that is a fashionable alternative that continue to speak in today's fashionable world!

In this mode, I recently found out something wonderful about one of my favorite stores curvy divas,  H&M!  They recycle!!   I am not talking about putting plastics and glass bottles in their separate and proper containers, I am talking recycling FASHION!  They recently started  a recycling clothing program with major benefits to those who participate!  It is a program they started only last month!

Jen Boynton wrote about the program recently in Triple Pundit, at www.triplepundit.com:
"shoppers can bring any bag of used clothing into H&M and get a coupon for 15% off their next purchase. The clothing can be from any brand, in any condition."
So for every bag full of clothing that you have had sitting in your closet that are in wearable (and perhaps not so wearable shape) H&M will give you a 15% coupon in exchange for that bag of used clothing, to shop in their store!!!! How cool is that?!

I think that is a great incentive and a totally win-win situation.  They help the community and they help you the shopper! Think of all the clothing you can buy already at great prices, and now with even more discounts!!!! Ohhh, now that's quite budget-friendly!  At the moment they are only accepting clothing, no shoes or accessories.  To find out more details about H&M's clothing recycling program, read the full article here: H&M's recycling program.

Window Shopping Part Deux - What I Chose

As you know from my last article , I went shopping for swimsuit with my teen Mandi and ended up doing the same for myself. After all, I was in need of a new bathing suit. My last purchase for one was from Target eight years ago! And also during that time, I was the lucky recipient of two new suits from my BSFFL (Best Sister Friend For Life) who visited from Europe! So Those have lasted quite a long time!

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

How to Wear Glitter in the Daytime

Have you ever worn sequin aka glitter?  It is pretty much a trend in fashion these days.  Glitter is worn mostly at nights and for real special and dressier occasions. But not so today curvy divas. Glitter can also be worn during the day!  I've worn glitter during the day time before and I try to make it look as understated as possible!  You don't need too much accessories when you wear glitter.  It is pretty much how you put your outfit together! On Elle.com Amanda Fitzsimons interviewed designer Marissa Webb who is known for using sequins during the daytime!  Amanda wanted to know if this look (daytime glitter) can really work? Marissa said it definitely can and thinks it is in how shine the sequinned (or glittered) garment that choose to wear is. It is not just in the size of the beadings at all! I tend to agree with her.   I don't think a really shiny sequinned garment on its own, would work for daytime. That would definitely be overkill! ...
