After reaching out to Kimberley Dolson, I received an invite to Curve Nation's Kickoff Welcome Reception this Friday, July 11th! Of course I jumped at the opportunity.  This happening event is being lauded as Curve Nation's first Annual Plus Size Expohosted by plus model and star of Curvy Girls on NUVOtv, the fabulous Rosie Mercado.

Why did I say exponential?  Well, just look at the planned activitieswho will be making appearances and what they will be sharing with attendees to the conference and expo!

Lifetime’s Double Divas, Molly Hopkins and Cynthia Decker of LiviRae Lingeriewill speak about breast health and how to fit our undergarments, yes, those bras can be a handful (pun intended)!

Kelly Glover, media personality and blogger of BigCurvyLove.com and creator of the project 50 Fat Dateswill share about sex, dating and the plus size woman.

You will be able to shop, attend a pool party, a fashion show, and have a massage for your tired, but happy feet.  There will be experts on hand to offer health assessments as well, kind of like a one-stop bee-hive of activities geared to all of us!

On Saturday night, get your party on by attending Curve Nation’s Curves in Paradise Party, and a meet and greet with Rosie Mercado; CEO and Founder of Full Figured Fashion Week, Gwen DeVoe, whom I've had the pleasure of "interviewing" (by email) for an article write up I did earlier this year, will also be launching the next phase of her career at this event. This is the last year DeVoe will be presenting Full Figured Fashion Week in New York - (angels out there, I want to be at this event).  At the Expo, she will be speaking on personal branding and discussing what she has learned touring the country scouting models for Full Figured Fashion Week.  DeVoe will also be filming the first episode of her new talk show, Mogul Moments.

It is wonderful to note that Curve Nation has partnered with Dress for Success of Greater Orlando, who has a major need for work appropriate suits and separates for women sizes 14 and overA silent auction will be held and donations are being accepted. All proceeds will go to the charity.

So hop on the bandwagon curvy divas & gents who love us, check out the registration for the Expo includes swag bag with samples and other items provided by sponsors and vendors, among other things!

Think of the connections you can and will make when you attend the Curve Nation Plus Size Community Expo.  It's a great way to learn more about our plus-size community! So, tell me, is that exponential or what?!!!

Do visit http://www.clubcurvenation.com and also contact Kimberly Dolson for more information about the conference and Curve Nation

See you at the Welcome Reception on Friday!!

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
