Me n My 'Fro: The Many Ways I have fun with my Natural Hair

Over the past four years I have learned to love my hair, and in doing so, I have learned to love me.  There have been times when I really disliked the way my hair looked. Not because it was ugly. Because I couldn't get it to do what I wanted to do with my hair. It wouldn't get super straight, or as thin as some of my friends.  It would get so frizzy when wet, I didn't like being caught in the rain.

Going to the pool or beach required prep time of moisturizing and conditioning before exposure to the elements. Oh sometimes there are times when I want to go grab a relaxer, however, I know that I won't ever, ever resort to that again.

There are also times when I get "the look" from people who look perplexed at my hair.  You would be surprise that this sometimes comes from my own race especially the men who refuses to understand why we wear our hair the way we do now.  To put it simply, I am happy being me. And I dare say that will be the same for every woman who chooses to do the same. So while you can, learn to love your hair; and learn how to style it.  I have been doing that time and again and my hair is never styled the same way two days in a row!  I'm posting some photos below. Some you may have already seen.  Oh and now, I love walking in the rain!

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
