Dressed up Thanksgiving - The Sweatshirt

Are you wondering what to wear to this year's Thanksgiving dinner curvy divas?  Last year I gave you a  few ideas, blouson dress, leggings, jeans with belted sweater, see the link here.  This year I am trying to be even more simple, yet I am also in the mood to dress up a little.

Hmmm, what to wear, what to wear.....?  I was perusing purewow.com and then the lightbulb went off when I saw thir feature on the sweatshirt, "it" being the "trend" for Fall.  I've shared with you that I like the idea of the sweatshirt all dressed-up!  I think it happens to be one of those items in your closet you can dress up or down, much like your jeans!

These three outfits were my favorite choices:

This embellished-lace skirt and statement necklace dresses up the grey sweatshirt.  I would wear a pair of tights with heels to add to the dressy look; or leggings with flats or boots for a more casual but eclectic look.

Topshop quilted sweatshirt ($45) + H&M skirt ($30) + Miriam Haskell necklace ($980)

Have you ever seen a leather sweatshirt?  Check out this one by Helmut Lang.  It is paired with a pencil skirt and heels.  The texture of the skirt and the color of the shoes makes for biker chic.

Helmut Lang leather sweatshirt ($495) + McQ Alexander McQueen skirt ($435) + Saint Laurent pumps ($625)

Some of us just don't want to be bothered getting dressed up for tomorrow's dinner and that is okay. This means we'll be able to indulge even more in the sweet potato pie!  This red cropped sweatshirt goes well with jeans.  Throw on a pair of wedge sneakers or Chucks, or boots and you're good to go!

Zara cropped sweatshirt ($20) + The Seafarer jeans ($337) + Kooba bag ($448)

Now are you ready for dinner?  I know I am!  Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with your family and friends!

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
