Vintage Vogue

In March of 2012 before I decided to create this blog, I shared my love for Vogue magazine on my d-foreverserenity blog with the article I am super-imposing below. I have this "thing" for magazines. I won't say obsession...I love the glossy pages, the colors, and usually read them from cover to cover....!

I had so many magazines piled up, I had to get rid of them...and yes, regretted it the minute I did! Anyway, I'm so glad there are online choices now!!!! Takes up less place in my bedroom!lol! I have saved some of my favorite issues, and shared some style inspiration and observation below.

These were my favorite looks from a Vogue magazine issue from August 2006, six years ago in the past, I know, but I have tons of mags and I love flipping through the pages!  These looks are so fresh today!!

Vogue featured the color combination of  "The Red is the new Black" - red being the new black at the time! Patrick Demarchelier, photographer and model was Christy Turnlington

Burberry  London trench w/a Calvin Klein Collection beaded & embroidery dress

Marc Jacobs sequined dress and charcoal pants -  the tunic & pants look is never a fashion faux pas, even today - one of my favorite go-to style btw!

Leopard print coat in red and black - leopard print is so IN today!

Beautiful red coat...look at the tall boots she's wearing!

This dress, I'm not doing it justice, is red and I love the necklace! [unable to note the designer's name]

Lanvin dynamite red satin shift

Lee Angel necklaces - I LOVE

Ralph Lauren collection brick red Ricky Alligator bag
Remember curvy divas, those looks were in 2006. Flash forward today and those very looks are on trend!  Isn't it great how fashion come full-circle?!  My dream is to see the same looks in a magazine for plus size divas. I know there are magazines and fashion out there that do make us look good. So much has happened over the years, however, there is still so much work to be done in the plus size fashion industry.

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
