Thrift Shopping Awesome

If you have done it before, isn't it like, really fun?  I know, the clothes are used, and some of them are really so, old, but if you love vintage curvy divas, even better!  And if you love a bargain, you've hit the mother lode! Plus, some people really give away some really nice stuff so what's to lose?!!!!!!  I love thrift shopping and will continue to do it even when I have hit the mother lode!lol!

Sidebar: you have heard the song by Macklemore featuring Wanz - Thrift Shop,
"....Only got twenty dollars in my pocket I'm, I'm, I'm hunting, looking for a come up This is fucking awesome... "....I'll wear your granddad's clothes I look incredible I’m in this big ass coat From that thrift shop down the road...."?!
Sub-sidebar: I've loved that song from the first time I heard it as a fan of VH1's Top20 Hits and One to Watch..I tweeted about loving that song before it even started rocking everywhere! - (yeah, you needed to know that!)   [lyrics fromhttp://lyrics.wikia.com/Macklemore_%26_Ryan_Lewis:Thrift_Shop]

The one thing I don't buy at a thrift store are shoes, unless they're new and have an original tag. Listen there's something not so nice about someone else's cheesy foot-smell! I'm not knocking it though, because if you see a pair of shoes that are actually in good shape, and doesn't smell, hey go for it!!!

So on a recent trip at our local Thrift Store, or as the hoity-toity people like to say, the Vintage Store, I found the most darling dress, one I've always wanted to own, a Jean dress!  OMGG (Oh My Goodness Gracious)!!!!  Without further ado, here it is:

Cost of this Cato Woman dress: $5.69!!!!

I also found something nice for Amanda, in fact, she picked them out herself! She's always wanted a bolero Jean jacket and found one in white; and a cute blouse to go with her ballerina skirt she's always had and never the right top to wear with it!

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
