The 90's Trend I'll Never Give Up!

What is that one style, that one fashionable trend that you love so much that you still do it today, and you're not planning on stopping curvy divas?  For me that trend is layering a dress over pants (or leggings)!  It's something that I do quite often and I don't plan on stopping!

One of the reasons I do it is because I don't like wearing dresses that are too short, and even if I do buy a short/mini dress, I'm going to wear it, but with pants, and sometimes leggings!  It is a comfortable and stylish go-to look for me!

I recently read on refinery29.com an article about this very look!  Connie Wang & Willow Lindley, authors of the article wrote that the last time anyone probably wore that style was:
"....to an Avril Lavigne concert...with flip-flops, braces, and a terrycloth wristband, no less. These days, there's probably no other layering technique that'll elicit such extreme, knee-jerk negativity than wearing a skirt or dress over a pair of trousers..."

Um, no ladies, I beg to differ!  It is a trend that I have even seen recently on the Runway!  Reading the article further, I see that they agree with me!  They too have seen a come-back of this trend on the Runway,

"recent runway ensembles have provided sleek, not sloppy, innovations to this look, convincing us to reconsider...."
Yes, the look is back (as if it ever left!) with a vengeance, but in a more sleeker version, not the sloppy look of yester-year!

Here are some looks featured in the article, photographs by Masha Maltsava!

Matching dress to pants - I love this look and I do try to do that myself at times, matching the colors will give you a sleeker appearance!

They call this styling a more "playful" look! I agree!

Here's a shorter dress with a slim/skinny pants and booties!  One of my personal favorite!

Other looks that they featured were a longer and looser dress with leggings and a lacy, peek-a-boo dress with pants!  I'm loving them!  What do you think curvy divas, would you wear any of these looks?

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
