10 Fashion Faux Pas to Avoid

Have you ever made some weird mistakes when dressing yourself curvy divas? You know, those little fashion faux pas that really aren't a big deal but somehow they are?! I've seen people wearing socks with sneakers...I've never done that one, but I can understand why some people do it. Well, sometimes the dust and dirt gets into your footwear, or dries out your skin so wearing socks with sandals is a must....um, maybe NOT!!!lol!

I've had visible panty line without realizing it. Sometimes it is just too late to change my outfit and so I just roll with the best of them!  A quick recover is to wear a long cardigan, or jacket (which I do), or just wrap your shirt around your waist to cover your assets...which might just be an even bigger faux pas! ~ chagrin ~

In their Beauty & Style feature on sheknows.com, they featured The Top Fashion Faux-pas! In the previous mentions above, those two fashion no-no's are on the list!

First on the list is "exposed bra straps"!

Admittedly, this is not the best look. I've been guilty of this too, however, I usually throw on a cardigan or jacket!  There was a trend recently (it seems to come in phases) where the bra and tank tops would be the same color, so that made it okay! I don't think so!

The dreaded socks with sandals, doesn't even look cute here!

These two celebrity looks are definitely not working!  Another reason why not to wear socks with sandals!

According to sheknows.com, wearing sneakers with your work style aka corporate look is a no-no!

Personally, I've done this in the past! When you're busy getting to work, what else is more convenient?!  I've read this as a faux-pas from other fashion write-ups as well, but I say, to each his own!  [stage whisper] Imagine what they would say about flip flops and the corporate look! ~ducks head in shame~ (when I'm driving, that's the most comfortable look for me)

The dreaded VPL caper!

Admittedly, this looks bad for the visible panty line (VPL), in white pants.....however, with a derriere like this one, who's arguing ..?!  It seems I shouldn't be writing this article because I have an excuse for everything so far curvy divas!lol!

Other mentions on this list are: muffin tops, thongs, and too tight clothing...among others!

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
