What the world sees

When it comes to us curvy divas, you know the world is looking at you wherever you go. Am I right, or am I right?  What, they don't do that to you?  Hmmm, that means you might need to amp it up a bit so that you can be remembered wherever you go!

What is the first thing that someone will notice about you when they meet you?  No, besides that gorgeous outfit that you're rocking!  The next thing they will remember is not whether you have fresh breath or not, it is how beautiful your skin is!  At any age, having great skin is one of the best thing any of us can do for ourselves.  The one thing I've always read is that if they do nothing else, most people will spend money, lots of it, on their skin!

Guess where I was on Saturday morning?  At a hotel attending a Mary Kay event!  My daughters, Jessica and Amanda and I went over to the Holiday Inn Express in our neck of the woods where Jessica was invited to a morning of pampering by the gorgeous ladies of Mary Kay Cosmetics!  She invited us to go along with her!

In attendance were several brides to be with their guests, and the hostesses of the event, Adriane, Lisa and Heather from Mary Kay Cosmetics.  They are trying to see how many facials they can do in 30 days!!!  They have quite a competition going on! We walked in and were greeted enthusiastically by our hosts who made us feel quite at home!  Then were given Mimosas....of the virgin variety!

A refreshing drink! (refilled however many times you want too!)

We completed a survey card so that they could have an idea of what our skin type was and the type of makeup we like.

For the next two hours we experienced the use of their skin products and learned what not to do to our skin, and what we could use to make it look so much better!

By the time we were finished, our skins were soft and glowing!   There was some competitiveness going on to see which of the attendees could collect the most raffle tickets so we could win give-a-ways!

At the end of the event we were given a sample of their skin lotion.  I walked away with a smile on my face and with my skin glowing!  I loved that they didn't pressure anyone into buying anything, that was totally up to each of us!  If you ever get an invite to go to one of these events curvy divas, do go!  It will turn out to be a fabulous experience!

Me 'n My 'Fro: On Being Natural - How it began

I mentioned the first article I wrote   about my hair that I would share with you my hair journey curvy divas. For the next couple of Wednesdays, that is what I will do on this blog.  If you are black aka African American as we say here in the United States (technically, I'm Caribbean-American), you know the ins and outs of our hair journeys. The success, when you rock your hair and look fierce; the woes, when you just give up and put on a hat!lol! And even wear a hat, just because you wanna rock that new hat!   I have always had what some called "a head full of hair", so much that the authenticity of my hair came into question quite a couple of times.  My mom loved to style our hair (my sisters and me) and would always have her girls looking beautiful in ribbons and hair clips where ever we went!   There are two incidents I remember distinctly, as a child, and as an adult.  Once in Primary school (that is Elementary here in the USA), a teach...

Fabulously Curvy Nominated for The Liebster Award

Fabulously Curvy has been nominated by a fellow Blogger whom we love to follow, our local royalty, Princess Kaija of the blog, The Life and Adventures of Princess Kaija .  She was also nominated for her work and as graciously given me the nod which we gladly accept. We love the adventure of getting "out and about" and meeting new bloggers and writers and we gladly follow back.  Thank you Kaija for thinking us worthy of the Liebster Awards . Forgive us for the late "acceptance speech".  Life has been inundated with family-life, exams & presentations, since we're in the world of students again, and research for our new looks on the blog.

Found: The TShirt Dress

I found myself at the Mall of Millenia, a high-end mall the other day, Amanda and I went on a little adventure at which I was very excited. This mall is a bit farther away from us so we don't get there as often. It was about time I visited H&M...oh my love for that store has increased!!!  While I was there, I wanted to grab a handful of clothing and run to the fitting room, but I had a hard time finding my size.  Where were the larger sizes for us curvy girls??!!  I thought there was a sectioned for plus size-didn't see if one and couldn't find sizes for me. Jersey Maxi Dress w/raw edges at arms & slit It was a busy place so I couldn't ask anyone who worked there (I saw so few employees), but the store was pretty busy... however after looking around, I saw a dress I liked, a large was the largest size, I picked one in each color, a black and a grey;  it was a tee-shirt style, cotton-jersey material; with a round neckline and a slit that had me won...
